Yes! She's obsessed with princesses right now. So I found her a generic princess costume from TJ Maxx for $10. At least I'm not caving into the character costumes (Belle, Cinderella, etc).

@mediagirl: this is how I feel! LO wants to be Elsa and I was trying to hold the line dmd suggesting lots of alternatives but I finally caved. 
she is so excited though...and baby brother is going to be Olaf which I am excited about.

Oh yes, it's all princesses all the time here. But, exactly which one she wants to be changes nearly every time I ask, so I haven't bought a costume yet.

This year she wants to be a Pirate Princess....haha so yes and no. I bought a pirate costume with a skirt, but she is demanding a rainbow wand and a crown....

Ha, not this year. She wanted to go as Mowgli, but I wasn't thrilled with the idea of sending her out door to door in red underwear and bed head. She's since settled on an astronaut, but all her friends so far have picked princesses.

She picked Olivia this year. Cool with me. Before that, it was Lightning McQueen/Mary Poppins. Wasn't quite sure how I was going to pull that off.

We are all princesses, all the time here (ugh), but surprisingly, DD1 wants to be a horse for Halloween! No idea how I'm going to pull that one off but she is obsessed with horses and wants to be one, so I guess that is what we'll do!

Not this year. My 3 year old wants to be a snake. I thought it was a passing fancy but she's been talking about it for months! So great, now I have to find a snake costume

Oh, i think it's really stinking cute.
This year, E will be a unicorn, though, and *I* will be the princess! I'll be wearing T, who'll be in a dragon costume, so it's only fitting I wear one of her dress up tiaras
@Smurfette: Dh said E would probably want to be one of the guppies and I said DON'T YOU DARE, because i have no idea how to pull off that costume in a few short weeks.

I had the opposite problem last year - I was so excited for pink sparkly fluff and DD1 insisted on being a bat!
This year she's either being a monkey or "something pink" - she can't decide. I have both a monkey and a flamingo costune with receipts.

@Ginabean3: I agree with finding the generic dresses! I understand wanting to dress up and look fancy but it doesn't have to be tied to a specific princess.
I'm kinda excited about a princess dress this year because she asked if her brother could be the king and I found a royal solider costume in his size at a consignment sale!

My oldest child (who is currently chilling in her Belle costume over her clothes) unsurprisingly cornered her daddy during our last trip to the Disney store and managed to finagle her way into a light-up Rapunzel gown. I'm not sure why Rapunzel since she is in love with Merida and Ariel (gingers have to stick together I guess haha). She keeps telling me she's going to be Dr. Princess Rapunzel though because "I'm a doctor for real okay! I just pretend to be a Rapunzel for Fall-o-ween." (Fall-o-ween lol)
DD2 is blessedly being a dalmation, DD3 is being stuffed into a Minnie Mouse costume. I imagine in a few years we'll have our own self-sustaining princess-doctor army however

Not this year but last year, she couldn't decide which princess she wanted to be so she was all of them. She literally wore one piece from each princess costume she had.

Sorta, maybe? I decided I wanted her to be Queen Elizabeth because dressing kids as old people amuses me. Plus we have a corgi and I thought sitting out with them both handing candy would be hilarious. But then I was looking for a Tiara and was like oh no... am I wasting maybe my last my-choice-costume year on a princess-y costume?! and now I have cold feet.

She looooves princesses. She wants to be Minnie Mouse yet again this year. Boring. She has also started saying she wants to be a ballerina. I'm thinking about making her Misty Copeland:)

@plantains: My mum just bought a pink princess dress and we will give her mouse ears and a tiara. If you Google minnierella you can see she just wears a generic pink dress. Easy for me!
