DS is 4 months and has been rolling onto his tummy in his crib lately. Unfortunately he doesn't know how to roll back onto his back, so he sometimes wakes up upset. Last night at 12:45 am, we woke to him fussing on his tummy. DH went to go turn him to prevent him from fully freaking out. When he did, DS freaked out and began screaming like I've never heard a baby cry. He tried to comfort him to no avail and brought him to me to maybe nurse him. Nope. He wouldn't latch and continued screaming and crying and arching his back. I could barely hold him he was flailing so much. The whole time, his eyes were closed and the weird thing was, he still seemed asleep!!!! I started to freak out a bit. It was like he was possessed or something! This went on for about 5 minutes. The more we tried to calm him, the more he freaked. Last ditch effort, I thought I would take him outside since that often calms him, but before I got there, he suddenly "woke up". He opened his eyes and instantly stopped crying. He looked around confused and then just nuzzled into me. WTF???

I tried to look it up and it seems it might have been a night terror-- caused by my DH disturbing a transition in deep sleep. Never seen or heard of anything like this, especially so young! Needless to say, we were too freaked out to sleep for a while after that, even though the baby went right back to sleep!
