I am so disgusted... I looked at the label on this humongous jar of Mayo we have, it it said that it had 96 servings of 90 calories each. That's 8640 calories!!!
I quickly found that my ham/cheddar/mayo/jalapenos sandwiches were no longer enjoyable... and will forever be scared of eating mayo. I had thought the jar had maybe 2-3k calories, but was off by a factor of 3-4.
Anyone else out there (currently or formerly) totally addicted to mayo?

Currently. That amount of calories in the jar doesn't freak me out because of course I would never eat a whole jar of mayo! We consume thousands of calories every single day (or at least like 1-2k), and like 12-14k every single week. 9k doesn't seem that much to me!

Ew. My husband LOVES mayo, but I can only take it in very small amounts. I'm just not a fan.

Yeah, if you stopped to read the calories of every food item, you would probably eat a lot less! But of course I don't always do that because I don't want to be eating fruits and vegetables all the time.

Well, a jar of mayo lasts at least 6 months in my house, so uh...yeah, not worried about it.
Peanut butter has twice as many calories as mayo, and the jumbo jars probably have just as many servings

I avoid mayo anyways because it's pretty much all fat. Hubs loves it though. He'll put mayo and bbq sauce on the same sandwich. I have no idea how he is so slim!

I never used to be a mayo lover, I changed my tune awhile back. Of course, now that I'm trying to record every single calorie I eat, it no longer holds the appeal it once did...

@mrbee: Have you tried the Kraft mayo made with olive oil? It's actually really good and about 1/2 the fat and calories as regular mayo.

I hate having dry sandwiches but the "nutritional" information on mayo disgusts me so I trained myself to like mustard instead lol.

@Running Elley: Try homemade mayo. It isn't as bad for you and isn't difficult to make. I did that once and it was pretty good. I just don't care about mayo enough to do it again. Spreadable cheese, like Alouette, can be a good substitution too.

Does anyone like fat free mayo? I put it in my tuna salad bc it doesn't smell, doesn't jiggle, and isn't fattening. My husband says it's not mayo at all and he hates it. But I guess that's why I like it? Faux mayo:)

I always get light mayo and the jar lasts at least a year at my house... so 9K calories doesn't sound too bad spread over the course of a year

@jholler25: I agree with you - but I do eat it! I hate the smell, though, and if I accidentally get some on my hand while cooking/making a sandwich, I almost always gag!
