Period proof undies! What do you think of them? Have you used them? Would you use them? I've been seeing ads all over my subway and was intrigued.

The price tag seems steep but I do like the idea (and the ads on the subway)

Price is definitely a factor. I haven't done the math on cost of pads per month vs. cost of undies to decide if they eventually become cost effective. If I'm not buying new ones every year it probably works out.

I have them. I was disappointed because they run a little small if you have hips and booty. If you have an average period they are good back up. I do not have an average period, I bleed like a murder victim but they still come in handy for me on days 4 and beyond.
Even though they are pricey I did the math on how much I spend on panty liners a year and it made sense.
So even though they don't work like I wanted them too for me I think they're cool.

They work really well for me. I use them or a cup. I dont have a very heavy flow and only bleed about 4 days.

I am really curious. I would try them . . . but I don't understand how they don't feel like diapers? They've still gotta have that pad feeling to some extent, right?

I love the subway ads, and I am curious. i may invest in a pair- but I am disheartened to hear that they run small...

@Run2shore: When I bought them they only had a few size options...they have more options now.

@hawksaz: They don't feel like a pad or a diaper but they are heavier/thicker than the average panty.

I've been interested in these and think I'll try them when AF comes back.

I guess I would use them for lighter days? But I don't want to have to take my pants off just to change my period protection.
pomelo / 5093 posts
@mrsjazz: That's good to know. I thought I might try them when I feel like I'm done losing weight, since they're so expensive and I've got much booty now. My usual period is only heavy the first day or two, and then light after that, so it would be perfect.

i just.... don't know. i don't know if i could get over the weird feeling i get about them! but i'll see whenever i get my period next! i am definitely interested in the diva cup though (currently 4 months PP and i didn't get AF back until 12 months PP last time)

I have a friend that works for the company and gave me a couple of pairs of the period panties and the new pee panties (specifically targeted towards the post partum population).
But they are still in the packages because I haven't had my period yet and dont have any pee leak problems.

These could be nice as back up protection but they are a bit more than I'm willing to spend. They are only $6 off (20%) if you buy 7 or more but I don't want to commit to buying 7 pairs.
I am interested about being able to wear white underwear on my period days.

I am definitely thinking about getting some for my lighter days.
@Torchwood: According to their site, you should be able to wear them all day and supposedly they are not meat to replace tampons or menstrual cups. Who knows....
pomelo / 5607 posts
@BKCaribBaby: If they aren't meant to replace tampons, what are they for? If you leak? I guess I might get them for that, rather than risking staining my regular underwear? Could be nice for when I'm not 100% certain when I'll start, now that I think about it.

@BKCaribBaby: I thought that was the point? Replacing pads/tampons

thinx's graphic design and photography are beautiful! but I'm sticking with my OB tampons--I don't mind using tampons in the least; I like the simplicity, and I like not having to "manage" my underwear. thinx apparently need to be hand-washed, which doesn't gross me out but is a pain in the ass, even though their campaign says it isn't. it is. and I like to be able to dry stuff like underwear and leggings and tanks in the dryer to shrink it back from being stretched out. cool to hear the positive reviews from pp's though.
ETA: their copywriting and brand voice sound like they're targeting teenagers and college girls with all the cutesy instagrammy text-speak--maybe that's who they're after?

They are significantly more expensive than the cloth liners I already have. That, combined with not knowing how I'd like the fit, will keep me from ordering them, but I am intrigued with the idea.

I've been interested in getting them as a back up for tampon days. What I want to know is, if they can apply this technology to undies for periods, why can't they turn them into nursing bras to stop any leaks from showing??

I ordered a pair, I'm pretty excited!
I don't think they're meant to be used instead of tampons or cup, but instead of the pantiliner some west with those things, in other words, back up for leaks. I'll report back I guess!

I'm intrigued by them since, with my IUD, my periods are very light. But they seem pretty pricey and a lot to invest not knowing if I will like how they fit or work.

@FannyMae: Get on it and go on Shark Tank mama! I love that show, it's what I look forward to watching every Friday night.

@Kimberlybee: @katsupgirl: @hawksaz: if only I had the time/patience/energy/capital/business sense I totally would do it! instead, here I am, soaking through my bras on a daily basis!!

I would totally just have 1 pair for before/after AF! Now that I'm not on the pill, it's annoying b/c I never know when AF is coming, and I don't always remember to wear a liner. Also I hate that awkward end when I think it's gone, but then randomly still spot...
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
They're a lot of work for underwear, but then it's only 2-3 days per month, but still. Rinse, launder and hang to dry? No thank you.

Just came to post... I'm oddly intrigued.
I was reading this article/review of them:

Holy crap! Mine arrived today and they are HUGE. I haven't tried them on yet, but I've never seen underwear this big before! I ordered based on the measurements on the website.
