This post is inspired by a few other money related threads we've had here, lately. I figured we could all continue sharing our ideas for a more affordable life.

Before DD arrived, my husband and I spent a fair share of money on dining out, grabbing drinks, and driving slightly out of town for random adventures with friends. We also did a lot of pointless shopping. Now, we're trying to reign it in, and enjoy our weekends on a dime. What kind of thrifty things do you do on the weekend, as a family?

We seriously just walk everywhere on the weekends; LO loves her stroller, and really enjoys being worn, so it's a win/win. Once LO is big enough, we plan to add a seat to the bikes.

Every Sunday, we take a stroll to our local farmer's market, graze the produce, and listen to some bluegrass. We usually grab a few breakfast tacos and coffee from the food truck, but keep everything around $10 for the morning.

We like to pack picnics to avoid eating out, while still enjoying ourselves. We've got lots of beautiful parks and beach access in the immediate area, so there's always somewhere nice to set up camp.

Our families are both nearby, so we will occasionally go over to their houses to grill and play board games.

I'm constantly looking for free festivals, concerts, and fairs in the area. Tomorrow, we're walking down for a begonia festival - members of the community get together to build floats from begonias and send them down the river.

Our local video store has $1 rentals on old releases on Wednesdays, and they're good for seven days! LO and I will take a walk to pick up movies (I usually get 5 for $5!), and DH and I watch them together in the evenings, once she's asleep.
