Um- sh** would hit the fan. I would be whacking him with my purse unt he woke up. Sad part is: this is my husband in the future. I trust him but I know NOT to send him to the park with LO without me.
As far as yours and mrs.bees decision not to take the child: I applaud you:)

Speaking as a childless person, so maybe the reality of it would be different, but right now, I think I'd take the baby quietly & leave him there. I mean if I saw DH sleeping on a bench next to our LO, I wouldn't take someone else's baby! But I think the panic that would ensure would be enough to keep it from EVER being a problem again. And I would probably wouldn't speak to him for at least a week, and it'd be years before he left the house alone with LO!

I'd loose my mind if DH did that. I'm so scared of her being taken, it would take a long time for me to trust DH with her again.

I'm childless and I'm sure I would be angry if I found out SO fell asleep at the park BUT...

I actually feel bad for the man. I've read so many threads here on HB (and from momma friends) about how exhausted you mommas and daddies are.

I would probably do something like drop my bag in front of him to get him to wake up. Or do something with a loud noise. I'm sure, he didn't mean to fall asleep.

I'm a passive person so I wouldn't actively touch him but I would do something indirectly to wake him up. Maybe get my phone timer to go off or something.

I, also, think that he will probably feel like crap when he wakes up and realizes that he had fallen asleep.

Also, if I get him to wake up, maybe he'll realize that he messed up and should probably head home or grab a very strong coffee.

@mrbee: Or is this man a regular? Have you seen him more than one time at the park asleep?

@bluestriped bee: That's what I was thinking too. Poor guy must be so tired!!

@mrbee: my question, was he laying down or just sitting up? i know if my hubby fell asleep it would not have been intentional. especially if he had his mouth wide open.

Omg, that is so crazy and irresponsible! I would definitely throw a fit if my husband did that. He wouldn't though b/c he's the crazy, paranoid one between the two of us.

People steal babies all the time, so falling asleep while you are outside your home is not ok. The adult should be awake to watch the baby, even if the baby is asleep

It's supposedly not unusual to see unattended strollers (prams) outside with a sleeping baby in it, while the parents are inside a cafe drinking coffee in Sweden! Crazy, right? There's always a few stories popping up about Swedes getting in trouble for doing this while overseas:

I don't live in a large city and don't frequent Stockholm enough to see how often it's done there but people comment on how my backyard deck is PERFECT for winter when the baby can nap outside while we "fika" (have coffee) inside ...

and in my old apartment, I walked down the stairway to find an unattended, sleeping baby in the hallway in the dead of winter! The door was closed and everything. The ppl living there were supposed to run a babysitting service too! O_O;
