Those who have used probiotics for their baby, what one did you try? Did you find it effective in helping crying and tummy issues?

And yes, I think they worked. They are expensive, but I was willing to pay a $1/day (what it evens out to) if it would give me a little sanity. We tried stopping them at one point and within a few days he was worse again. I am a believer!!!

We used Biogaia, but I don't know if it's available in the states. It helped a lot with gas/tummy issues. I got antibiotics in labour so I think it wiped his gut of normal flora (and he developed thrush too).
I've heard HMF Natogen is amazing stuff and I know you can buy it in the states.

We also used Biogaia, in 2013 and thought they worked great. I remember running out to Walgreens to stock up all the time! I just did a quick search and one post I read said they were changing to Gerber Soothe [the ones EmsMems posted].
I had totally forgotten about this part of infant-hood so thank you for bringing them up! On my list for baby2 now!

We use garden of life raw kids. It's a powder that we add to bottles or purées. We started because he was on multiple rounds of antibiotics for ear infections. I can't say if it is doing anything but it doesn't seem to hurt either.

Thank you everyone DH and I are willing to try anything to help if tummy troubles are the reason for her colic. Is it best to give in a bottle? Or is it drops that go right in her mouth?

@Emsmems: oh good to know!! Here it is still called Biogaia.
I found powders difficult since I was EBF. The drops were so easy!!

Culturelle-there's the most data behind it and it's the one I've used in the hospitals I've worked in.

We got the gerber/biogia ones after a stomach bug. He LOvES them! Eats them right off a spoon.

I used Biogaia drops, just administered straight from the bottle (she didn't seem to mind). I don't know if it was just a coincidence but her crying dropped from 10 hrs/day to 2-3 hrs. A miracle, basically.
