How did you handle eating out while you were pregnant? I don't have an allergy, i have Celiac, and a bread crumb will make me severely ill for several days or even a week or two. it is an auto immune response, so it affects my entire body.
i know it's not feasible to avoid eating anything not prepared by me entirely for 9 months. I'm just scared that once i'm pregnant, the stakes are that much higher, so to speak, and eating out will be that much more dangerous for my body.
I'm not pregnant at the moment, but we are TTC and last night i got glutened in a restaurant (after multiple warnings about the seriousness of my disease and the importance of no croutons on my salad!) and I am very ill today. i just kept thinking "what if i was pregnant?" (i'm in the TWW, but only 3DPO so i'm guessing it's too early to matter), and especially in the first tri, before you are telling people, how do you avoid drinking AND eating out?
Just wondering if anyone has any tips or stories to share about how they handled this to stay healthy while pregnant!
i was so frustrated last night, because i explained it very clearly to the server (even called it an allergy!) and she understood, but the kitchen still sent out my salad with croutons. i sent it back and made it very clear i needed a NEW salad because one bread crumb would make me sick, so what do they do? transfer the same salad to a new plate and pick out the croutons. i didn't realize that until i got half way through and came across half a crouton and a whole bunch of crumbs at the bottom of the plate. my heart sank!
