I have two teeny, fluffy Japanese Chins and, until very recently, they were my babies. I say that... but I'm actually a big fan of Caesar Millan (I have a shelf full of his books!) and I already had pretty robust boundaries in place for these dogs - they are not allowed upstairs, they sleep in their own beds, they know not to come near the dinner table while we are eating....but they rule the sofas and I have just allowed this!!! The little girl, particularly, likes to lie on the back of the sofa (squashing down the back cushions) cuddled up to the back of my neck or my shoulder. She's so clingy, she needs to be next to me or on me at all times....

Well, today, the rules have changed! I cannot have them jumping up and down at will, leaving their hair all over the furniture, when LO is here. So I have declared a "no dogs on the furniture" rule, brought their beds into the lounge and am refusing them entry, sending them to their beds when they try to come up!!

It's so hard!! My little girl dog has had a full sulk (back to me!! It's so funny) and has been "begging" frantically to come up!! She is now sat on her bed staring at me!!

I know we will get through this. I just need to be consistent. It's hard though, I feel like a mean mummy!!

Have you ever implemented new rules? How did it work out?!
