I’m just curious.

A co-worker I don’t really talk to that often decided to chit chat with me. She has a 1.5 year old. We don’t normally talk about parenting but it came up. She was asking me how I make time for myself because she is finding it hard to find time for herself… even to do things like chores. I said oh parenting is tough! I barely get chores done. I’m lucky that I can find an hour or two a week to do something on my own just to keep me sane. So I feel her pain about finding/needing time for herself.

Then something weird happened. She hugged me and thanked me for saying that. Everyone she has talked about her struggle with finding time for herself basically told her she was being selfish and implied that she doesn’t appreciate her baby. I was shocked! I told her if she wants she can always chat with me.

I guess I’m surprised that she hasn’t talked to anyone else that wanted some time to themselves. Maybe it is just us?

I’m not trying to start a mommy war but I’m just curious to see if other parents try to crave some time for themselves and if they feel they need to or not and how easy or hard it is to find that time.
