I let them pile up over a day or two... and now I have to pay the piper and do a huge load. Three day weekends greatly increase the amount of family chores for us... we end up playing catchup all week!
What's the longest you've gone without washing the dishes?

LOL, longer than 2 days...at our worst (and when we had a lot of counter space), it may have been 5 or 6?? (hangs head in shame)
One of the very good things about having a smaller kitchen is that we have less counter space, which means we can wait less time between doing them! Now, we try to do them every day, or every other day. On occasions when we go three days (usually when we don't cook), we remember why we don't wait so long!!

We have a tiny kitchen, so after 2 days there's no room for anything! I know the feeling about long weekends though...one more day and the house gets destroyed!

I can't go upstairs to go to bed if the sink is full of dishes. One or two maybe... but if there's a full sink I have to do them before going to bed.
On the other hand... I can head into a week (like this week) with no food prepped!! Luckily Wagon Sr. was able ot make a Costco run so at least tonight we have some rotisserie chicken to eat.

Oh man, I don't think I've ever honestly left a sink of dishes... There may be a cup and a few pieces of cutlery that sit for a day or two, but I'm usually pretty anal about getting dishes in the dishwasher. Now, once they're in the dishwasher, they can eeeeasily sit for 5 days before I start the dishwasher...

Can't go a day without doing them. We don't have that many dishes. With 8 people eating they usually get done twice a day

I can't sleep if there is a spoon in the sink, sorry, I can't imagine the stink of 2 days worth of dishes, mr. bee!

I've made it a habit to wash dishes throughout the day. My energy level these days have been pretty low, and I will leave a few dishes in the sink for later (I hand wash). So my sink hasn't been completely cleared since Monday morning. The sink is finally empty, and it's Wednesday morning. Oops!

Depends on how lazy I'm feeling. Which usually, is pretty lazy. Too lazy to care. But saying that, DH usually does the after dinner clean up, and we run our dishwasher at least every other day.

I hate dishes piled in the sink so never longer than an hour after dinner.
How do you cook with day of dishes in the sink?? What about pots and pans??

Overnight if DH is on dish duty, otherwise, right away. I'm the wash as a I cook type. It's an illness.

The most I will do is ice cream bowls in the sink, after being rinsed over night, if the dishwasher is full. I will save bottles till at night and do them all at once. But I can't stand dirty dishes sitting around. Drives me crazy.

We usually do the dishes every day, but this three-day weekend just wiped us out... just finished washing all the pots and pans though, so we're all caught up now!

A few days. I always mean to do them right away, but have learned that if I put it off long enough, DH will do them. Since I do all the cooking, I think that's only fair!

I can't sleep if there are dirty dishes in the sink! My DH and I tidy up the kitchen every night before bed. It's become routine now. Our living room can be a huge mess with toys everywhere. But our kitchen is always clean.

I clean my kitchen and living room every night, but on weekends, I let it slide and I'll do it in the morning when it's quiet.

@mrbee: @Leialou: Sigh, the 3-day weekend got me as well. There's a clean load in the dishwasher that I keep taking from, and then they get added to the pile in the sink. Baddd. I need to clean tonight, I'm out of forks
