I didn't put anything in my kids' ears, either... just have them propped up in the baby tub, bring a cup to pour water, a washcloth, baby soap, and a couple of towels!

i didn't do that either. LO's ears were never submerged, the most was water pouring over them, but i never noticed a problem with water getting in his ears. my biggest concern was keeping LO warm. have fun!

Yes, get the drying station ready, preferably in the bathroom.

If your lo's skin is flaking off, don't use too much soap.

My DD only liked it when we put her about up to her waist in warm water inside the newborn sling attachment on the baby tub. We put it right in the kitchen sink and used the detatchable faucet to rinse her off. I was also worried about water getting in her ears, but I don't think she was wet long enough for that to happen.

When we give DS a bath we make sure the room temp is warm. We also use a towel that is shaped like a fish that you soak and put over his belly and chest to keep him warm while we bathe him. Oh, we also use a big sponge that is meant to sit in baby's tub to keep him from sliding in the tub. It's awesome, we got it at Babies r us. Also, my mother told me to do the cotton in the ears too, but I was afraid. So what we do is after he is all washed up, DH will pick him up and hold him like how you would hold a baby that is being baptize and then I wash my son's head. My MIL makes fun of our bath process, because it takes 2 people, but I don't care.

No we never did anything to prevent water in ears since we didn't pour water over them. We were advised not to use any bath products on baby until he was 2 months old or so, just water. I did used to add a bit of coconut oil to the water though as it has antibacterial amd moisturizing properties.
