Last night, as I was changing Em's onesie, I noticed a spot on her upper arm. I started to scratch at it with my fingernail, thinking it was just a speck of something, but it stuck fast. Then I looked closer - and it was a tick!

Needless to say, I sorta freaked out. I called DH over and had him look at it, then we called my parents and asked them how to safely remove it. My dad answered and told me what I needed to do and forwarded a 'how to' from the CDC. He then told me to put it in a plastic bag with some alcohol swabs in case she gets sick (!!!!) and the doctors need to test it.

Since it was so tiny - really, more like a speck of dust - I let DH pull the tick off. It came apart in half but we finally managed to get all of it, including the mouth and what not. I immediately swabbed the area with an alcohol swab, twice, and we've been keeping an eye on her since. Thankfully, the bump from where the tick was is white, not red or angry, and she's not running a fever or anything but it scared the dickens out of me. A tick on my two month old!

We checked ourselves over and Henry but Em was the only one with a tick. Guess we'll be spraying the yard soon to make sure this doesn't happen again!
