I really want to a movie and they're playing it tomorrow at 11 am at a cry-baby movie theater. the thought of doing this with a baby seems easy because a baby can't move, but what about my toddler that will want to run around? i mean, it says kids under 5 are free, so i know that she's welcome, but wondering if this is dumb for me to attempt alone? will i not enjoy the movie? how can i make this easier on myself?

it's around her naptime, but she's pretty flexible. maybe bring my carrier?

ETA: Wait....I'm an idiot and totally read that wrong! As long as you're okay with having to leave if it's not going well, it seems like it would be worth a shot.

@wonderstruck: oops, sorry, i only have the one toddler! i meant, it seemed less intimidating to me when i had an infant, but i didn't go then so i don't know the routine! now with a toddler, it seems scarier, but it's specifically meant for babies/toddlers/kids and moms.

I think O would take off. that said, she may be in her clingy-stranger mood and be happy to sit with me. toddlers!
I would go with the expectation of possibly just leaving early if need be!

Snacks!! Sadie will sit still as long as there is a steady stream of snacks.

I'd try it! At least then you'll know for the future. Maybe pack some snacks and small toys she can play with in the aisle?

I think it sounds kind of terrifying, but my kids aren't really into TV for more than a few seconds so I know they would be all over the place. I wouldn't mind that in that setting, except I would feel like I was missing everything.
That said, I would bring many snack catchers full of goldfish and just be okay with leaving if I had to!

I vote bring the carrier and some snacks and wing it! The worst that can happen is you waste $10, best case scenario you get to watch a movie and have a great time! I hope it goes well!

We took our son for his 2nd birthday to a regular theater back in April, and it went well. He only lasted an hour, but didn't feel the need to run around and spent most of the time happily watching and eating popcorn. I say give it a go. I wish our theater had child specific viewings so that we wouldn't have to worry about ruining other people's time.

I would come prepared, snacks/milk/water/juice and know that LO might want to run 1/2 way through, so you might miss parts but letting her run some energy off.

My LO would LOVE the movie theatre but I would absolutely not go at nap time. But that's just me. We're hoping to go the next rain Saturday morning we have free.

@Sammyfab: that is a consideration, but luckily she slept later today so nap time is after the movie! That probably means she'll sleep in the car, but that's okay!
I'm giving it a go. Bringing the carrier, a toy or two and lots of snacks!!

UPDATE: it went well! she got tired toward the end and cried a bit, but otherwise, she was fine running around and eating snacks the whole time. i will definitely do it again and hopefully bring friends next time!

@birdofafeather: This is great to hear!! They're starting weekly $1 kids movies at our theater the week after next and my sister really wants to go with us on her birthday. I'm a little nervous but this thread gave me hope lol.
