So what did you get for a car seat after the infant car seat? Is it what's known as the convertible car seat?
Which convertible carseat do you have? Do you like it?

We have the Britax Marathon (convertible carseat) and love it! He stayed rear-facing til almost 2.
We also have a Roundabout and a Boulevard (hand-me-downs) to use in the grandparents' cars eventually and they're great too. Can't go wrong with Britax.

we have the combi coccoro convertible carseat because it's very lightweight and slim. we don't drive so we needed a lightweight one to use when we take cabs or zipcar.

I have the Chicco Keyfit 30 as our infant seat and because of the weight allowance, I think we will be okay with just using it for the next 2 months (LO is just about 10 months old). I don't love any of the convertible car seats because they are all bulky. We plan on getting this seat for his first birthday, the Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat in Matrix http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0011URFRE/ref=aw_ls__1?coliid=I1VUL1RB935AY6&vs=1&colid=2DW96NAQZKJO4
I like multi-purpose items, so I like that it has the booster and LO can use it until he's able to use a seat belt, it's a great price, it's the highest rated by consumer reports, and it has lots of other great reviews.

We bought the Britax Boulevard when DS was 8 months old and got to heavy in the infant seat for me to carry to and from the car. DS was 22 pounds then. I LOVE the carseat! It fits well in my car, better than the infant seat, as far as front-to-back space goes, and DS seems really comfortable in it. It's easy to harness and a great height for getting him in and out in my car. We don't plan to have another child for a while, so I wasn't too concerned about width, but the Sunshine Kids (now Diono) Radian was my second choice seat and they can fit 3 wide in most cars.
We are going to get a Graco MyRide for DH's car, since he drives DS a lot less often. and it's about half as much money.

@Mrs. Bee: is that pretty easy to get in & out quickly then? We are looking for one that we can have for when we use DHs car or my in-laws so that we don't have to take out the one in my car every time.

We also have the Britax Marathon and really like it. It installs pretty easily (we've even taken it on trips) and lulls Baby Y to sleep pretty quickly.

We have 2, a Britax convertible that we use in the car and a Cosco Scenera that we use for airplane travel. The Cosco is super light and I don't mind if I have to check it, whereas I am a little more conservative with the Britax...it's heavy and wide and I wouldn't want to check it.

I think we are going to register for the Britax Marathon for our convertible seat.
