It's not all the time, but DD has started getting upset when DH and I show affection. For example, last night she was happily playing in the bathtub and DH and I were sitting on the floor. He put his arm around me. DD saw this immediately and started tantruming. We've tried explaining that we love each other and hugging and kissing those you love is nice. We've also invited her into our embraces but she seems more interested in directing us apart. Any ideas what's going on? Toddlers and their crazy phases yeesh...

My DD went thru a phase like that - we would hug and she would try to break us apart and say "My daddy!"
I would play along and say "my daddy" - just tried to make it light hearted. I cant remember how long it lasted but it wasn't very long

My LO does this sometimes too. She gets upset and tries to get between us, usually pushing my DH away at the same time lol. Not sure why, but we just try to make it light hearted like mamaof2 said.

Lol, DD1 used to do this and we jokingly called it her anti-sibling defence system. Unfortunately for her, it failed and she now has a five month old sister at home!

DH's nephew was the same way when he was younger! He would get in the middle of them and say "no, no, no, no, no". I don't remember how long it lasted though. Hope it passes soon!

This happens, if DH gives me a kiss or we are sitting by each other on the couch she has to jump right in the middle. And he has to kiss her last before he leaves, if I get the last kiss she makes him kiss her again.
I think it's cute for now and just say "mommy and daddy love each other, just like we love you."

My LO does sometimes. We kiss and watch for his reaction. Sometimes, he ignores it. Other times, he tells us "no."

My LO does this. She even screamed at my dad when I hugged him hello. Nobody touches mama.

We have the opposite situation going on! Dd will tell us "no hugs!" "no kisses" "run away, run away!" when we show affection to her (not all the time but often enough!) But when we hug she says "mama dada hug, c hug!" and she runs in between our legs and hugs.

My daughter did this for awhile, around 9-15 months. We always say that she has to share mommy. Then she stopped abruptly. No idea why.

Haha! Mine has started doing this too. Previously she would tell daddy "to kiss mama" when he wanted to kiss her, but lately if we're hugging or kissing, she just yells, like "aaaaah! What are you doing?!!?" We just laugh at her and tell her she has to share.

she got over it, but now likes to join in on our hugs and kisses

Whenever DH and I hug, DD will always get in the middle. Hehe.

Our LO does this too so we invite her into our family hug or kiss. She seems to be happy with that!
