So I started out using a special detergent from the local organic store that is on the approved list for cloth diapers - free of additives and dyes and perfumes. I used it for about 18 months. My DH never liked it and said he felt like his clothes weren't as clean but I continued to use it...and I never had an issue with my cloth so I didn't want to risk ruining them with another detergent.

For the past year we went back to our beloved Gain (the little pods are so much more convenient than the powder and liquid detergent). I love the way it makes our clothes smell and stains come out much better than with the expensive detergent.

My LO has sensitive skin but hasn't reacted in any way. I think I'll buy some of the expensive detergent to do wash my cloth diapers but I'm thinking of just continuing to use Gain for the rest of the laundry...including baby #2's laundry.

What are you using? Do I need to use special detergent for the baby's clothes?
