My son is 2 1/2 and we still are in cloth since potty training has been REALLY slow. For me, I use thirsties hemp large prefolds (just fold into a trifold) with a hemp doubler for naps all folded up and stuffed into a BG 4.0 pocket diaper. For non naps, I just change a bit more frequently or use hemp doublers. My favorite diapers have actually been simplex diapers for the fit, but I do need to add an extra insert of some kind for absorbency.

I'd say if you're thinking potty training is coming soon, maybe try a bit more absorbency, or maybe start to encourage peeing at various times on a potty? Also, are you sure you have them sized accurately for snaps and such? I realized that I needed to loosen the waist at about 2 because DS was just getting bigger and leaking.

If all else fails and you want to stay committed to cloth, you can also try wool or fleece covers. We use those at night over cloth. Bullet proof!

We sailed through with cloth until about 16 months and then all of a sudden I was having leaks, fit issues, PUL breaking down, the works and I had to give it a rest because I was freaking out and super frustrated with it all. I had already broke even by 7 months with cloth so I felt fine just going to disposables since she was using so few at that point.

@avivoca: Where are they leaking from? The belly? Legs? Through the diaper?

If the problem is that she is holding her pee and peeing all at once, then a cloth diaper may not hold it all...she may be ready to potty train!

@avivoca: that makes sense! I have heard good things about the bamboo RAR soakers, but I don't know if I would invest the money that close to potty training unless you will use them again with another kiddo. Such a tough situation.

Could it be an elastic problem? Or maybe change more often?
