I ordered a pair of sneakers that LO picked out online (I showed her a handful of options that I already liked), but I didn't notice they have laces instead of Velcro. Is that going to drive me crazy? She tried them on and likes them. But she can also put on some shoes herself, which is helpful- obviously won't be able to tie them for a long time. She's 2.5.
Do laces on toddler shoes drive you nuts or no big deal?

They are only annoying because she can untie them, which is a problem when I am driving and she wants them tied again.

@Foodnerd81: I hope so! H pulls hers off to untie them and then freaks out when she has trouble getting them back on. It's a lot of fun when I am stuck in traffic. She takes her shoes/socks off when she is tired.

My LO has a pair almost identical to the ones you show above. They come untied pretty often which can be a bit annoying but overall it isn't a huge deal.

Our preschool doesn't allow laces. They're so adorable so it's annoying she can't wear them there.

To me those look like elastic-style "laces" that you don't have to tie... The kind of shoe that slips on/off. I'd personally avoid real laces, but with a newborn I don't have the time/inclination to spend a long time tying/untying my toddler's shoes. On the up-side, they'd be a good solution for the toddler who won't keep her shoes on!
Edit: having looked at their website I'm amending my original statement. I guess that's just the way they photograph their shoes.

@mrsrain: that's whati thought too- elastic or something. No, real laces that have to tie. Can you buy replacement elastic ones, do you know?
(I had a credit to zappos so they came out to really cheap, so I wouldn't mind spending a few dollars on other laces).

Dd1 has a Nike pair similar , it does have one Velcro on top but it also has elastic "laces"... However these laces aren't able to come undone so it's not an issue

My 2 year old has several pairs of shoes with laces, and I don't mind them - they go on pretty easily, the laces are so tiny that they're fast to do up. The daycare ladies did tell us that they aren't big fans of his Converse high tops, they are a bit difficult.

I personally think they are a pain. My DS is 5 and I'm so sick of tying his sneakers! His next pair will be Velcro for sure, or he's going to have to learn to do it himself.

I don't think I've ever put my son in shoes with laces...oh not true, I did once and he told me he didn't like the shoes, lol.
We use sneakers with velcro. It's just another thing that I can eliminate for now (dealing with laces) so I do.

My son (22 months) has several pairs with laces. I've noticed some laces types are fine and others are annoying. He has Sperry shoes with laces that are always coming untied. The laces are sort of round? His Converse have flat laces (like the ones in your photo!) and they stay tied well. I usually double knot them, no matter what kind of laces the shoes have.

15 mo old has a pair (hand me down) with laces... It's totally fine as long as they don't come undone randomly!

@twodoghouse: I have sperrys for myself and they always come untied. So annoying! We kept these New Balance and so far it hasn't been a big issue as long as I double knot. She really likes them so I suppose it's worth the extra minute.
