We've used the Thermos Funtainer water bottles for a couple years and have been pretty pleased with them. I think they have about the same number of pieces as the camelbak straw cup though, so probably not what you're looking for. The straws seem way easier to clean when I compared the two though, so I found it a little easier for upkeep. I wash the straw parts by hand, but pop the rest in the dishwasher.

I've had so much trouble finding a leak-proof straw water bottle that doesn't have lots of parts, so I'll be following to hopefully find some better ideas!

We use the thermos funtainer and I put it all in the dishwasher. So far nothing has been damaged (2 years)

My 4 year old has been using the Takeya kids 14 oz straw bottle for a while - I like it because the straw is hard plastic and he’s a chewer who was ruining Camelbak and Funtainer straws so quickly.

@togetherthroughlife: we used the pottery barn kids water bottles probably starting around 3. They never leaked, stayed super cold and the kids liked them. They come with a straw but they work with the straw or without. The little silicone thing in the top pops out to get washed.

I know exactly what you mean about the camelbak getting gross because that has happened here but we never had that with the PBK ones.

I would suggest the little size for the 3 year old.
