This birth announcement is so cute it almost makes me want to have a 4th! (Except that I don't really want a 4th!)
Please share in the cuteness with me

I was irrationally tearing up. This is such an adorable video--they really do seem so happy with their decision to have 4, and they are a beautiful family! Of course, I can't imagine doing it myself (have my hands full with one!) but it's still awesome. And yes, I love her voice and she's beautiful!

Super cute. I think it sucks people with larger families get flack these days. I've even had some people give me an arched eyebrow when I said I wanted more than 1!!! Like seriously, 2 is a big deal now?

I looooved it!! That was amazing! My SIL has 4 under 8 right now, and when they announced with number 4 everyone thought they were crazy! I hate when people judge like that!

So awesome!!! I needed this 4 year ago when I was pregnant with my fourth. Everyone (seriously everyone... family, friends, strangers at Target) commented on how crazy we were.

@Mrs. Train: my husband just said "4 is crazy" and I reminded him that we're crazy with 3. We're ALL crazy! It's all about what each family can handle. No judgment from here- 1 or 5, if it's right for the family, then it's perfect!
Though they seem like a really fun family!

Pretty cute, and I'm not usually a big fan of having to watch a whole video for someone to get to their announcement! I like that they are so enthusiastic about announcing #4 since most of the big announcements you see are for #1, maybe 2. They seem like a good fit for a big family kind of lifestyle! (eta..compared to me and dh..we'd be way too stressed, lol)

Are people so judgmental?? I'm sorry to hear that I thought it was cute but seemed so defensive, I guess I see why after hearing other responses you ladies have heard/gotten.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@shellio: hmm... I didn't see the defensiveness... But I suppose the premise itself was defensive. It looked to me like they were having a whole lot of fun doing it though

@shellio: I thought it was defensive too, but then I read the original lyrics and I think it was mostly because of how they parodied the song.

1) adorable announcement
2) what a beautiful and talented family!!
I love when she throws the chicken at the end. I laughed out loud!

@katsupgirl: mine was "to all the ladies... growing their bump over and over again..."

@shellio: all of my friends who have 3 or 4 have gotten extremely negative reactions, not even from family but just ppl in public. I don't get it.

Loved This! I think there is some research about how parents of 4 are happier than parents of 2!
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@teawithpaloma: I think I read that recently too. Or maybe it was about being more satisfied with 4 than 3?

@Mrs. Jacks: Yea maybe that's it! Not to put too much pressure on you.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@teawithpaloma: I think we are pretty sure we are done. Maybe if I started at 30 instead of 38, but I'm pretty tired this time around and Mr. Jacks is pretty frazzled.
But I will say, when we went out yesterday, we had at least 3 people stop us and say, "You are done now, right?!" (And this in SLC where families are often quite large.) I pointed it out to Mr. Jacks and he was like, "yeah, that is pretty annoying!"

@shellio: @jedeve: I thought it seemed defensive too- but I get why they'd do that. I come from a family of six and it was definitely inappropriate the amount of people who made comments to ME when I was a kid. It was totally my mothers prerogative to have six children- she loved us all dearly, we always had food to eat, clothes to wear, etc- she shouldn't have had to ever defend herself. So it is sad that more and more women these days feel that way.
Aside from that bit- it was really cute, and she is so gorgeous and incredible talented!!

@teawithpaloma: oh no! I was going to respond to all your comments. Just got busy. Had so much to say in response

@Mrs. Jacks: I thought I came off a little anti-LDS which I wouldn't want to be known for at all! Basically I just loved that they surprised us with the alternative look of tattoos and cool haircuts.
The other thoughts were just rambles which I am sure will come up another time!

@teawithpaloma: It was something about your aunt being a physician with 8 kids. I'm now in a physician mom group and it seems most of us have 3 or more kids, which is kind of surprising in some ways yet not in others.
I really do think I'm stopping at 3 though. My parents had four and it was constant crazy-ness!

@Mrs. Jacks: OH right! My super Catholic Aunt and Uncle left it up to NFP and had 8 kids. I think she worked part-time up until the 4th kid then grew dissatisfied with practice and did home schooling for some kids and sent others to school depending on their needs. They just made it work somehow in the early years. My uncle is CMO at a inner-city faith-based medical center so they really just stretched a dollar and their energies. They also did Montessori when possible, had no TV in their home, and kids always did activities (Irish dancing, Suzuki, etc.) and all their kids are so bright and lovely.

@teawithpaloma: sounds like a fun family! In my high school there was a two doctor family with 5 girls, very similar... All were musicians and Irish dancers

@shellio: I can't even tell you how many negative comments I have gotten. People have said they hope my baby machine is turned off, that I should tell my husband to leave me alone, that I make them want to take their birth control. all kinds of stuff. It can get really old.
@Mrs. Pen: I can imagine with six your mom did get a lot of comments. People do say things to my kids and sometimes it drives me crazy!!
@Mrs. Jacks: I agree we are all crazy!! I don't mind. My house is loud and crazy but we have fun

I saw this the other day and watched it several times. I love it! I hate how some people are negative/judgy about the decisions others make re: how many kids to have/not to have.
pear / 1614 posts
@Mrs. Train: That is so rude. I guess people just feel like they want to make conversation about everything! I think big families are awesome and both you and the people who made this video make me want to have one more after my next one (2 with one on the way right now).
