There were about three boys at the park today playing with very real looking toy guns - so DS, being the (somtimes overly) cautious kid he is, ran up and told me there were guns there. One of the boys playing with the toy gun yelled to him, "it's a TOY, you idiot"
...I was shocked. All I said was, "it's not nice to call names" and left with B. It KILLED me hearing that and seeing B's face in response. I told him that he was very smart for letting me know and we left. How can a CHILD talk that way?
Also, I don't like toy guns. I don't think they need to be at the park. Playing with them in your own home? Fine, I still don't think they are appropriate toys for children but whatever, it's your home. The park is full of play equipment anyway, leave your toys behind!
Of course, I'm thinking of all the things I should have said to the parent. I talked to B on the way home and told him he did nothing wrong...should I add anything? I said the boy probably needed a nap and a time out and B agreed, haha.
