we have a carseat toy set and a bath toy set we were gifted, but other than that - no real "toys"... i think it'll be a while before LO "needs" or "wants" toys, but are there are any "MUSTHAVES" for baby's first year?

It takes awhile for babies to get interested in toys. When they are first born they don't need any toys. I'd say around 3 months LO started getting interested in toys. I think must haves would be an activity mat which you can use for tummy time, we have the one with the paino and LO LOVES it! He also loves the winkle and sophie. I think once he is 6 months we will move on to bigger toys.

We also have the einstein take along tunes toy and LO loves hitting the button and listening to it. Are you taking LO to daycare? If so, you can see what toys he plays with there and buy the same for your house. B loved this chair at daycare that had a toy bar attached, so we recently went out and purchased it. To be honest, besides the winkle and sophie he finds his hands to be thrilling! FYI, my LO is almost 5 months.

LO liked her activity mat until she was 4 months old. She's 5 months old now and is starting to like anything that "crinkles" or makes other noises. And that she can chew on (doesn't have to be soft - apparently hard plastic is her chew toy of choice at daycare).
