No real reason for this post except to share that I am SAD TO LEARN that I cannot buy DS some of my favorite childhood toys! They just don't exist anymore! I looked for: kitty kitty kittens, popples, and yum yums!
I also discovered that FAO Schwartz closed for good!!! 
What is happeningggggg? (Also, how late am I to this party?!).
What were some of your favorite childhood throwback toys? Have you been able to find them again?

My son has an original popples. My sister had kept hers and gave it to him when he was a baby.
Any of the toys from when we were kids that they have remade are kind of scary looking.

I was just lamenting to my mom how I wish I still had my popples to give to my DD. I remember how happy I was the Christmas I got it. I do have a collection of trolls and my Wrinkles dog for her.

We really did have the best era for toys.

My favorite was the cassette tape player (maybe fisher price brand?) with a microphone that you could use for recording. I'm assuming that's not made anymore. 
I mostly played a ridiculous amount with barbies.
When I was a kid my mom gave me all her old toys that she saved - I never really liked them, and a few literally disintegrated in my hands, lol....

@wrkbrk: my mom's friend bought my son the most gigantic bucket of tinker toys from the 70s (used), and he looooooves them. Too many modern toys are super breakable or dumb.
My favorites were Lego and dolls my dad would bring back from business trips and craft sets, stuff that still exists. I lucked out I guess.

M has my old My Little Ponies, Strawberry Shortcake dolls and Cabbage Patch Kids. Can't believe how much they all changed! I want to get her an easy bake oven which I never had. I also loved Care Bears, fashion plates and shrinky dinks.

My husband has been giving ALL of his old He-Man toys to D for Christmas over the past couple of years. He has almost all of the action figures. We still have Castle Greyskull in the basement - I think he's saving that for the big last hurrah.

I was really obsessed with American Girl dolls and have always dreamt of handing them down to my daughter. Super glad I saved all my dolls/ clothes/ books because the new ones are NOT as awesome- they come with fewer books and the "Girl of the Year" storylines aren't as powerful as the historical dolls were.
I am still going to take her to AG for tea for her birthday though... if only to fulfill my own childhood dream since I never got to go lol.

@periwinklebee: I had one of those Fisher Price recorders and kept it until (whispers) high school. My best friend and I actually used it to record a rap about American History to the tune of Baby Got Back, for which we got extra credit in 11th grade. I was super sad when it was destroyed in a car accident. Wish I could give it to my daughter

@caterw: I have all of my American girl dolls too! I hate how a lot of it isn't as good of quality now. Plus they got rid of pictures in the books, I guess to make them "cooler" for older girls?

@Mrs. Pickle: I found a cute Polly Pocket set at an airport Duty Free store while we were on vacation last year. I didn't realize this version was an older edition and hard to find. It's not like the oldskool version, but the face is a lot nicer than the newest version! The clothes aren't painted on either (there's one that looks similar but with painted on clothes).
It took a little searching, but I found another other set of the same version (different characters) from a vendor on Amazon. They're MagiClips compatible.

I loved my Popples and Pound Puppies. I had a lot of art stuff (like that spin-art and the Fashion Plates that you made rubbings with) and board games. I still have my Pretty Pretty Princess. But I'm sad that my kids will never know the joy of early computer games. We played a ton of weird little games that I don't remember the names for; one was a small man running around underground collecting gems, another was a Chip & Dale adventure. I loved all those cheesy games!

@JoyfulKiwi: I remember all my old computer games for our Commodore 64 too. They were amazing! Is Montezuma's Revenge the one you were trying to remember? It was a little man underground collecting stuff. One of my favs!

Omg I just looked up Wrinkles bc I had no memory of what those were and I had one too!! Like early early early - maybe one of my first toddler toys. No clue where it ended up. They were so cute!
