Are there any toys that were bought for your LO, or handed down that didn't get played with? Or just barely? How long do you keep them around, to attempt again in the future?

I put them in a closet for a month or two then try again. After a couple tries (6 months?) they get donated. Unless I don't like them then it's sooner. Longer for toys that are for older kids and need to be grown into.

I plan on putting ours in a tupperware box and taking them away for 2-3 weeks. Then introducing them a few at at time to see if she shows interest. If she hasn't played with it in a few weeks, we'll let them go. We don't have much room for toys. So, I guess pretty much what @Mrssrs said.
Thanks for posting this. I've really got to put this on my to-do list this weekend.

DD has had this one play/ mini doll house thing for over a year. Barely played with it. I was going to donate it and just wasn't getting around to it. Then.....she start playing with it. all.the.time.
Go figure!
I need to do a serious flush of toys.

@FaithFertility: How old is your daughter? I've been thinking about getting a play kitchen, but we're seriously short on space (and money). I'm scared she won't be interested in it.

This.
And those bead maze things that everyone says you HAVE to have. My child was not into that.

@mediagirl hahahaha- My mil was so excited about this gift. It had so many steps to put together And our 3yo has probably played with it for a total of 10 minutes over the past year and a half. Takes up so much room for the amount of interest.... Thankfully a visitor seemed to like it, so we're letting him borrow it until grandma visits next!

@mediagirl: DS loved that and played with it for a month! Now we bring it out when friends are coming over because they can all play 'together'. It definitely was a pain to put together.

I bought my son a plastic play kitchen after months of pining over the wooden ones and he was disinterested, until I brought it outside and he used it for water play!
The train table was a bust, good thing I got that second hand.
