There were those smelly strawberry shortcake dolls. The ones that turned into cupcakes and then back into princesses. I could sniff those things all day long.
I also really wanted a trampoline.

I wanted an American Girl Doll, Samantha to be exact, and I never got one. That's the only thing I remember being upset about not getting.

I wanted the Barbie Dream House so so badly. The 1980's version. Never got it. I did have She-Ra's Crystal Castle though, so I can't bitch too much.

@Ra: I used to go sleep over at my friends house all the time who had one, we would sleep out on the tramp at night. SO FUN.
I also used to sneak into peoples back yards to jump on their tramps... LOL.

@BlueWolverine: I have that exact dream house, in its orange and yellow glory!

A princess of power doll...never got one - I always told my mom that when I grew up and had a little girl, she would get a princess of power doll. My mom bought me one as a joke when I had my daughter

@LuLu Mom: I wanted an American Girl doll too. I wanted Molly though
I swear American Girl must buy lists of baby girls from hospitals or something because my daughter just turned one and we got our first American Girl catalog in the mail the other day. I'm realizing now looking at those prices why I never got one!

@BlueWolverine: my neighbor had the dream house!

@.twist.: @looch: @BlueWolverine: omg I wanted the dream house so badly but my parents got me that RV because they said it's a house and car in one. HAHA. I still loved it.
I also always wanted a cabbage patch kid but my mom said they were ugly. Then she got me a "Doll Baby" which looked EXACTLY like a cabbage patch.... so confusing.

@mrs. wagon: hahaha that is the best explanation! It's a house AND a car! LOL love it.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
@.twist.: hehe. I appreciate the humor now but I acted all bitter about it.. but I did still love it. And now as an adult I would absolutely LOVE to have an RV... haha!!!

@mrs. wagon: I would have been bitter too!!! It was a pretty awesome RV though.

Jem! The doll's ear rings lighted up, but my parents bought me the drummer with the purple hair because they thought i needed to have more black dolls.
Doll House. My patents actually bought one with shingles, but never got around to assembling it for me. Lucky for me my neighbor had one and I had the chance to help her deck it out. Hers even had electricity.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: My parents forbade me to watch Jem!! but I went to my neighbor's house and watched it there.. hehe.

When I was three, I apparently really wanted Holiday Princess Barbie. My parents got me everything else that I had wanted, but I broke my mom's heart when I noticed that Barbie wasn't there. 17 years later, my friend sent me one for Christmas. Pretty sure he had a crush on me haha.

@mrs. wagon: @mrs. wagon: @BlueWolverine: I never had a Barbie car, though...I used to use a tissue box, lol.
I wanted the Barbie pool.
persimmon / 1447 posts
@LuLu Mom: YES! I was just coming here to say this. My daughter is only 22 months this Christmas, so she's still too young, but I told my husband she WILL have an American Girl doll. It's the only thing I asked for but never got.

@.twist.: The Quints were awesome, I loved those things!
I actually can't remember which toys I wanted that I didn't have, and after seeing that quiz and this thread I'm starting to think that I was pretty spoiled

Looking back I wish I had an American Girl doll, but as a child I never really asked for one. I was pretty spoiled so I can't really think of anything else.

I wanted a Power Wheels in the worst way.
My parents bought me weird Barbie stuff. I had a Barbie hot tub, which had a little button you had to push (continuously) to make bubbles. I had the Barbie and the Rockers stage. And we used my mom's old Barbie car from the 60s.
ETA: I had 36/100 on that list. Funny story about the poppers - my BIL put one on his forehead and it gave him a big hickey right smack in the middle of his forehead. On school picture day. Ha ha! He got retakes done, but the original one is the one used in the yearbook.
persimmon / 1310 posts
My sisters and I had 19 off that list. I remember friends expressing shock that I didn't own (or even know about) so many of their popular toys. But I didn't feel deprived. Probably because we didn't watch much TV (therefore commercials). I think that's where a lot of "wants" come from. The only thing I remember longing for was art supplies.

@NavyRN2012: BHAHA I told my DH the same thing, I said when she's old enough to appreciate it, I want to go to the store and pick out the doll and do a whole day. yes, completely overpriced and what not, but it's a dream I always had and never got! I want to give that to her!

For me it was the Snoopy Snocone Maker and Easy Bake Oven lol. I asked for them every year and never got them

@BlueWolverine: I had She-Ra's castle! It was a handmedown from a family friend haha I remember thinking that elevator was the coolest thing

@.twist.: I loved that RV. We used to play with it for hours.
There was this dollhouse my cousin had where you put the people on different circles and they spoke. I loved that thing and always wanted one. I think I was a little old for dollhouses when she got it, so I just spent a lot of time playing with it whenever we went over there.

My family was not well off. I had 6/100 but recognized over 50 (from friend's houses and commercials).
I had A LOT of Mcdonald's toys and dolls from the dollar store. Many Barbies too.
