Our son is 13 months old, and has basically always coslept with us (in the same bed). We didn't initially plan it thst way, but quickly adjusted things in his infancy because we needed sleep. 13 months later, he still nurses to sleep initially and throughout the night, where he sleeps in our bed. He'll initially go to sleep in his pack n play, but only stays there for 1-2 hours. After that, one of us has to be in the bed with him. He also wakes between 4:30 and 5am no matter what, so I give him an early bedtime to try to ensure enough sleep. How do I get myself out of this mess?

For naps, he is down to one per day since starting daycare a few months ago. He takes one 1.5-2hr nap there, in a crib. At home, he often naps with me or in the car or stroller (I know, we're a mess!). Any advice on starting to sleep train? Tips? Anything?

The other problem is that we're in a 1 bedroom apartment. I've gotten suggestions to move him out of our room (like into the hall or office), and to get him a real crib (vs a pack n play). Would either one really make a difference, though?
