M and I are headed to Mexico, just outside Cancun, for our anniversary and to shoot a wedding. I will be 18ish weeks pregnant. I have been feeling a lot better. The last couple weeks and able to eat a bit more food. My only concern is, what should I be worried about food wise in Mexico? I have been following the food rules I think are reasonable (like staying away from fish high in Mercury and undercooked meat) but I have been eating undercooked eggs and an occasional turkey sandwich. Now I'm feeling really worried, about things being cooked to tempature and unpasteurized cheese, and well everything. We are staying at a nice all inclusive resort. Any tips or feedback?
Side note: in my group of friends and family I have noticed pregnant women having a beer or wine in moderation. I'm comfortable with the idea later in my pregnancy, but I sure would not mind having a half of a beer here and there on the trip. I read Expecting Better by Emily Oster and Bringing up Bebe which both say that this is fine, but I'm not quite sure. When did you have a drink besides just a sip when pregnant if at all? I'm not sure if this is a controversial topic in here.
