DD#2 is currently 3 weeks old and I can't get her to take a paci. Yes, I know I am the original pacifier but she HATES the car seat and I really want something to comfort her when we are out and about. Currently I've tried about six different types and she acts as though she's gagging and spits them out. With DD#1, she took to the wubbanub right away. Any advice?

Some babies don't take them. I never did and neither did my LO.

Mine rarely ever took one, some kids just don't.
What about the Baby Einstein take-along tunes for a distraction?

Hmm...what brands did you try? N will only take one kind. I also have to rub breast milk on the pacifier so she'll take it.

My LO never took one. We tried a few different brands and never had luck. It's rough when they won't take one in the beginning, but now that she's a year old I'm glad she never did because it's one less thing I have to wean her from.

My baby would never take one and still won't! We try to offer her it in the car also (she too hates the carseat), but she just pretends like she is gagging and choking on it and spits it out. Soooo.....I guess it sucks for now, but I am glad we won't have to wean her from the paci later and that is a good thing!

Mine would never take one! One less habit to break later I guess, but I was so frustrated in the moment.

my LO wouldn't take it either. so we didn't push it since it meant we wouldn't have to wean from it later on!

My 2 LOs would only take them grudgingly and they usually spit them out within a few minutes. LO1 was completely over the paci by 5 months and LO2 by 3 months.

Neither of my kids were interested in taking one and I tried real hard to get #2 to take one but he just wasn't having it!

Another idea is to give it to the baby gently and if they try to start sucking at all, start pulling it away a little so they have to suck harder to hold into it. That plus a little breast milk on it might really do it

We got given the gumdrop paci in the hospital and she liked it but could never keep it in her mouth for more than 5 seconds at a time. 4 months later and she is still terrible at holding on to it so we pretty much never give her one anymore.

No idea! We gave up trying around 6 weeks and she decided she wanted to suck her thumb instead.
