DH and I have been planning to go to Alaska as our last hurrah trip before baby for a while. Now that we are actually at the point of planning it, I'm worried that I'm being too ambitious. I'll be just about 4 months pregnant at the time we want to go, in March. People who have been at least 4 months pregnant-- could you have handled a trip like that, including the long flights?
My main concern really is the flights. While there, DH would ski for some days and I would take it pretty easy, so I'm pretty sure that would be fine. But the flights are about 12 hours each way when you factor in layovers. The return flight will have to include a red eye, but we could use points for first class, which I think would be better overall than a non-red eye in coach. Am I crazy? We REALLY want to go and I know we won't be able to for a while after the baby gets here, but there is no point in going if I'll be miserable.
The midwife did say as long as everything progresses normally, there was no issue on her end, and we would purchase some kind of trip insurance in case we had to cancel for any reason, plus I'll make sure we have proper medical insurance in case I need to get to a good hospital asap or anything like that. I told DH I couldn't go forward with the plans until I turned to you ladies
Glad to hear your ms is letting up! I had it until 18 weeks and wouldn't wish that on anyone...
