I've seen many other threads asking for help for hellobee members who've been in horrible situations and I applauded the stickying of these threads.

I'm sad to learn that this particular case is not allowed to be stickied. This situation has touched too close to home for me and maybe I'm taking things too personally but this is the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. I won't be returning to hellobee. If anyone wants to keep in touch just wall me and I'll send my email.

Thanks for posting! The tribute last night on Hockey Night in Canada was beautiful and they posted the trust information too so hopefully Marcus is well taken care of.

@travelgirl1: Not sure how Canada works, but doesn't his family receive a large sum for his service? At least in America, losing your life in the line of service is a 2M payment for officers' families, to help with all the expenses and such....

the fund is obviously legit, but there are so frequently scams that use tragic events or fake illnesses for a profit, it would be really hard for a site like HB to be able to verify the legitimacy of every crowdfunding request and i'm sure they would feel awful if they were to encourage HB members to give to a fund that ended up not being on the up and up. it's one thing when the recipient is a long time member of the community and the organizer is as well, but i can see how it could get out of hand and overwhelming if more and more requests for crowdfunding were coming in.

@.twist.: I completely agree with you (and I am an Ontario bee).

@mrs. bird: I was honestly going to make a thread myself if one hadn't been made. We see a lot of news coverage for American news (obviously, it's an American site) but not as much Canadian. I was really touched to hear that a lot of American bees were even interested in donating, because it seriously is such a tragedy!

I am also heartbroken and wish I could donate, but we just can't right now. I wish I could help everyone!
