I bought a groupon ages ago for 6 sessions on a small area and I finally booked in to go tomorrow for my underarms. I'm excited and a little nervous. I just keep thinking that I might never have to shave my armpits again!!

Make sure you post an update after you've done it! I'm sooo interested in this! Did they say 6 sessions would be enough for your underarms?

According to their website, 6 sessions is average for a small area, so I'm hoping it'll do a decent job. Apparently you my have to do touch ups every 6months-year, but I can get on board with that. If it works, I'll consider doing my bikini line next.

@prettylizy: That is so awesome! If you don't mind me asking, how much was the Groupon?

@MrsBrewer: not at all, it was $120CAD for the 6 sessions, a total steal!!

@prettylizy: wow that's amazing! That's probably what I would pay for razors for a couple months!! I'm going to have to keep my eye open now for some Groupons for myself for this!

I did laser hair removal on several areas and love it!! However, 6 sessions wasn't enough for me. I think another 2 will do the trick because the hair I do have now is super fine.

@MrsBrewer: So my laser went really well, it was literally like 5 minutes, 5 or 6 zaps per side. It burns like bacon grease popping up and stinging you, but then it goes away. She said in the next few days all the hair will fall out, (and I'll love her) and a few weeks later it will start to grow back, but there should be about 20% less. She said I should expect a 20% reduction with every session (though nothing is guaranteed yadda yadda yadda). I have to go back every 6 weeks , and hopefully after 6 sessions I'll be mostly hairless, though I might need more sessions.

@prettylizy: Wow!! That's awesome!! Good to hear it didn't hurt too bad. I didn't expect it to be that fast though, even better!
Perfect time to start this too, before summer. Hopefully when the warm weather comes (if it ever does) you won't have to shave!
Thanks for the update!

I dont want to burst your bubble but i had laser treatments done starting about 3 years ago. i had face, forearms and bikini done, I went to sessions every 4-8 weeks for over 2 years and i am not at all satisfied with my results. it was so time consuming and hard to make appts at my center. i also had to pretty much stop going during the summer, because i would pick up a tan so easily. my results are patchy at best and i still shave frequently. i easily had 18+ sessions on each area. they too originally told me 6 would be sufficient, but they offered free "touch ups" for 2 years past the end of my 6 sessions

@Chillybear: Oh no!! Does your hair seem thinner/finer in those areas at least?

@MrsBrewer: the laser they used is about the size of a piece of orbitz gum. i dont usually shave my arms but when the hair grew in i'm now quite stripey like she hit the same spots over and over but missed others. My upper lip and chin (the 2 problem areas) are better i no longer feel the need to get waxed every 2 weeks but i still pluck or shave every couple days and i could probably get waxed maybe every 6 weeks if i didnt do upkeep. My bikini reacted the best, but its not like getting waxed its far less thorough. the leg line is pretty good but as you get closer to center theres def more coverage and more need to shave.
For the amount of money and time i spent getting lasered i def feel like results should have been better. And i was considered a "good" candidate dark hair with skin light enough that the laser will "see" the hair but not so fair that the laser would burn me

for the amount of research i normally do for things, i just wish i had been more informed of the realities when i signed up. The girls that they hired were very good sales people and i was sold before i really had time to research the reality of it.

I was using the Remington i-light laser under my arms before I got pregnant and it was working great! And then i had to stop so it's all grown back, but it was definitely thinning things out for awhile there! I can't wait to use it again, since it's a good at-home option
