I'm wondering why your OB thinks that? In my case my OB wanted to do rcs essentially because it was more convenient and he gets paid more for it...it sounds synical but there was no medical indication for one so I ended up switching OB. Reasons I personally wanted a VBAC: being able to pick up my older son right away, we want more kids, shorter/easier recovery, and greater likelihood of facilitating skin to skin/ starting BF (which I had trouble with after my csection). As you can probably tell, I definitely think it was the right choice in my case, but every pregnancy is different of course.

@Becksabee: Why did he say you have a 90% chance. What facts did he give to back that up? Seems like an odd number based on standard statistics.

@Becksabee: I had a successful Vbac and loved it. I will say though, the reason I had a csection was because DS was breech. My water had broke and I progressed very quickly while waiting for the surgery. From the time my water broke it was 4 hours until I was fully dialated and rushed to the OR. All this to say, one of my OBs, who was in complete support of a Vbac, told me that he often sees women come in who with their first labor never progressed, barely dialated, etc and he supports their efforts for a Vbac with their second pregnancy, but it often ends in a csection because their body just doesnt dialate or progress on its own.

I am not trying to sway you either way because ultimately I had a successful Vbac and will try for another with any other pregnancies, but I thought it was interesting what my OB said. I am not sure if there are stats to support that or not. I also do agree with previous posts to consider how many kids you want because the risks go up with each csection. On the other side of that, I have a cousin who is pregnant with her 4th and they have all been csections with no complications.

I had a repeat csection. I had my first csection due to not progressing(10 hrs on pitocin and barely made it to 2cm), fetal distress. Once my OB got in there, he said that due to the shape of my pelvis and my failure to progress he felt I would need a csection for any future births, but said I was more than able to try for a vaginal birth. What ultimately led me to having a repeat csection with my second was that they were 15 months apart, and I didn't want to risk a rupture. I was happy with my decision. We are pretty sure we are done at 2, but if we do end up having a third, I was more than likely have another ERC.

With my first I got to 10cm and pushed for over an hour with the bent making no progress, so I ended with a c-section. I had a RCS with my second and third pregnancies (mostly because no Doctors around me support VBAC) and it is a much different experience than ending up with a c-section. The recovery is better because you aren't recovering from two types of birth and this time you know what to expect. My best RCS was my third one, relatively fast recovery and the surgery was easy (plus he had two knots in his cord and would have ended with a csection anyways!).
