Talk to me about Tulas. These things seem really expensive but several people I know have raved about them! I've got a britax carrier that we used a lot with LO. I got a maya wrap but I only tried it a couple of times with LO and I feel like she was really big to be in it by the time I tried it, I'm planning to try it again with the next one.

We love our tulas, I have both a standard and a toddler and they are so much comfier than the ergo. I had a woven wrap and loved it when he was around 6 months but he grew out of it fairly quickly and the learning curve was higher for new carrys than an SSC.

@jetsa: yeah DD was a huge baby and I tried the wrap at 8 months and she seemed huge. I'm a relative newbie to baby-wearing what is an SSC?

Love my Tula! I have scoliosis and had a hard time wearing B without serious pain. I tried the Ergo, a ring sling, a woven wrap, etc. and nothing worked for me. In the Tula I can wear B (who is almost 30 lbs now) for hours comfortably. It's awesome!

I have an Ergo which I have used with my (little) LO for about 2 years. I just recently borrowed a Tula and it's a lot more comfortable when I wear him on my back. I couldn't quite get him close enough with the Ergo and it hurt my back and neck. The Tula has more adjustable straps and just works better! The fabric also covers a lot more area. My LO is getting a little too tall for the Ergo.

It's worth the money to buy. They hold their value well so you can always sell it down the road without losing a lot of money. I can still comfortably wear my 17 month old at 36 weeks pregnant in it as well

They are definitely worth it. Even a standard Tula can be worn for a long time. You can resell for almost what you paid for it and the prints are super cute. I have 3

Tulas are fantastic, as are Kinderpacks. Actually, I was a Tula fanatic until I tried a KP. My kiddo is weightless in that thing. Tulas are easier to get though.

@MrsH: if you look on Facebook there are lots of groups. Tula BST to buy and Tula Love to see all the beauties!! Your local baby wearing group is a good place to start too. There are always people selling them on there!!

Also, your best bet is to buy one that's in stock on the Tula website. Most of the Tula's being sold on the facebook page are rare, hard to find and $$$$$$$$$.

@MrsH: There are a few up on the big swap on Facebook, but they hold their value so well that the cheapest ones I saw were $140. On the Tula site they have brand new ones for $149. Both include shipping.

@MrsH: In my opinion, you're honestly better off just buying a new one. It's not often you'll find a used one that's much below retail. You're better off spending the extra $10-$20 and getting a brand new one. Like they said above, Tula Love and Tula B/S/T are a good place to look. However it's hard not getting caught up in wanting one of the $800+ ones

I just tried on a tula yesterday and now I get all the fuss! I thought people just were being a bit weird about the prints (although I think I would prefer something plain if I'm gonna wear it often). But I thought it was sooo much better that the ergo! I just wish they weren't so expensive. Or that I could buy a used one. I don't want to spend that much on something that is partly just because it's a rare print if I don't dare about that.

@MrsH: If I were only going to get one, I would get a KP. It just fits me better, I think. The adjustability is fantastic and sizing is very generous, too. My average-sized youngest is in the smallest setting of the Infant size, and I'm guessing she'll probably fit in it really well until at least 18 months - probably longer. My older (average sized) daughter probably should have been in a toddler Tula by 18 months, though we never moved up in size. No need for any inserts ever with the KP. I think it's just a really well-designed, long-lasting carrier.

I love my Tula! I have a standard and i was actually able to wear my 2 year old in it recently! Mostly use it for my daughter. I also have a Beco Gemini that I used when she was too tiny for the Tula and that started hurting my back after she got bigger. I have no issues with getting sore with the Tula. So much more comfy.
I agree with others that it's probably best to just buy a new one from their website.

I have a Britax carrier and a Toddler Tula and no lie it is night and day between the two on my back! The Tula is amazing, my toddler feels almost weightless. I bought a new one from a boutique site on sale and plan on selling it when I am done with it - they retain their value really well! I liked the Britax carrier when my DD was like 3-9 months, but then stopped using it so much because it hurt my back/shoulders and I decided on the Tula because of the weight limit and so I could do back carries.

I LOVE my Tulas.
They're easy to get on and adjust (DH and I both wear).
They never hurt (I wore DD on an 8 mile hike).
They retain value like crazy.
They really are cute -
Is there anyway to buy one for less than $150? I don't care about the print!

@jedeve: Sometimes they can be found on TULA BST on Facebook or on a Craigslist, but generally not.
And when you think about it, they're only $10-20 more than an Ergo of the same type.

Ir easing this thread makes me want a Tula! I think it will be hard to convince DH since we have an Ergo and an Onya... Maybe I'll ask for one for Mother's Day...

DS is on the big side - 20lbs, 28.5ins - maybe I should hold out for the toddler size. He's only 7 mos though. Thoughts? -

@CakeLady: it will be awhile until your DS is in a toddler size. They say it fits them when they fit 2T pants lengthwise.

@CakeLady: @jedeve: we just switched to a toddler tula and I think the only reason we've switched already is bc I'm pregnant. DH and my sister say the standard is still comfy on them. DS is 16 months, 27 lbs, and over 32". He's also in 18 or 24 month pants.

@Weagle: it seems like the kps are really hard to get right now. They can't keep up with demand. If I got a standard kp wouldn't I need an infant insert?

@MrsH: They are hard to get, though there is a B/S/T on Facebook. If you're getting it for a new baby, you really need an infant size. A standard will be WAY too big. The infants are designed so that you don't need an insert, and they don't make inserts anyway.

We love our Tulas, even my husband tells anyone who wants to know about them. The loves them and is a total convert. I highly recommend, they really make babies feel weightless especially in a back carry.

Am I the only one who never understood my Tula? I must have gotten the fit wrong? It always felt awkward on me no matter how I adjusted it, although I didn't have anything to compare it to.

@MrsH: You might want to see if a local babywearing group has one available to try on for fit. I didn't know until after I bought mine that something like that was an option, and at this point I'm too afraid to go and ask them to tell me what I'm doing wrong.
