DH and I are moving soon, and he's so fed up with our cable company (though I'm pretty sure it would just be a matter of getting a newer box) that he wants to switch to Fios.
But I feel like I've heard just as many people complain about Fios.
We're not ready to cut the cord yet, so streaming services aren't being considered, but which do you prefer and why? Cable or Fios?

Fios isn't available in our building, and dishes aren't allowed by the condo association. So, cable it is.
You might want to check if fios is even an option where you are moving.

We have Fios and the only complaints I have (though I'm sure it's like this with cable as well) is that
1. we got a great price when we signed up but now 4 years and 2 contracts later, our bill is so much higher than that special rate we signed up for.
2. I don't think I have ever talked to anyone who had what I consider good customer service. I'm sure there are plenty of people there who do care, but I never seem to get them!
But again I'm sure this happens with them all so it probably doesn't even matter!

@HappyBluebird: I'm not looking forward to a higher bill once our contract is up! When we moved across town, same city, we had to "break" our current contract and sign a new one. Well, the price/promo we were paying at the old house was no longer available so we had to sign a higher paying contract. It sucked!! I only had the old contract for like 6 months too. what the crap?!
Meanwhile, when I called to cancel my cable when I signed onto FiOS, they were willing to work with me on pricing. DH is addicted to the TV so we'll see which of the two has a better price option come time. I feel like we're paying a lot already.

@Alivoo01: See, I think that's the main thing that DH hates about cable (the high bill). But I feel like that's going to be true for any service so long as we're not streaming something for free. Any company is going to have an awesome introductory offer, and then after 2 years we'll end up paying close to $200 again...

We had Fios--then we moved out of state and they don't offer Fios in our new city. We had to switch to Comcast and it is SO terrible. Fios was a million times better and I miss it!
ETA: Now with Comcast we have the most basic package -- no DVR, not a ton of channels. Instead, we mostly use Hulu and Netflix.

Ugh. We went with fios, not impressed
It was installed today, along with a hole in our ceiling where the technician fell through while running wires.
And it's already freezing and they can't send a technician for three days. Yet I have to call back when it's fixed to request a refund for the days we're without service.
Even if our cable was shitty, at least they didn't make us pay if we had to wait for a fix...

@MaryM: He fell through the ceiling?! And I've always had really great customer service with them.. We have had fios for 6 years now. I would ask to speak to someone higher up, or call again and try a different rep!

But yeah. Had to go in the attic to run the cable to the wall and he stepped off the rafter and through the ceiling.

@MaryM: Oh yikes! We are moving and I basically decided not even to continue with Fios because their customer service has been the worst I've ever encountered and it took months of talking to a supervisor to fix it. But at least no one fell through our ceiling! Good luck!

Eta: I wrote this response before reading your update. 
FiOS is so much faster it spoils you for everything else! We went from a cable/home phone/internet bundle to FiOS only. We use Netflix and Amazon prime for TV, and our cell phones instead of a home phone, which we never used anyway. No regrets!

The guy who fell through the ceiling actually ended up being super helpful.DH got his cell number and called him this morning and walked up through some programming (beyond the simple reboot I did five times with tech support) and now it's working.
