Right you lovely people! We need to arrange a meetup to wave off our American friend, Loveisstrange. She is going home - and leaves in mid April (rotten traitor).
Who's in?
We need a location and a date! Discuss!!

What's a "do"? Is it another word for "meetup"? How do you say it? Long o or short o?
pomelo / 5469 posts
@sunny: I'm sorry, but this made me LOL! I take it this is an English-only thing? Yes, it's a meetup--long O. We also have the Hen-do and Stag-do, which are our versions of the Batchelorette (sp?) parties.

@sunny: Yeah, it's another word for party, I guess. You might have a "hen do" (bachelorette party) or a "leaving do" (a leaving party) you might get invited to someones "evening do" (evening wedding reception) but not the full day. You might go on your work Christmas do! A "do" usually takes place in a venue ("the pub will be heaving tonight, they've got a do on upstairs") as opposed to someone's house .... It's also a hair style "Look at her hairdo!"

@Cherrybee: Wait, so do (as in the event) is pronounced the same way as 'do (as in hair do?) I was thinking do (the event) = doe (baby deer) and that 'do (the hair do) = due (like due date). *scratcheshead*

Lol!! I totally forgot people wouldn't recognise the use of the word 'do' in this context, this is cracking me up! Definitely a sign I've been abroad too long!
I know loveisstrange is happy to be heading back home, but just as she's leaving, we're hoping to be moving over! One American leaves, another steps in Hope you girls get something sorted, and of course you must post pictures!

@MsLipGloss: No, it's all just do - as in "what are we going to do today?".

@Ree723: Ahh, that's exciting! Where are you hoping to move to? Which bit?
grapefruit / 4819 posts
@Cherrybee: I know, we're so excited to get out of Oz and back to the northern hemisphere! DH's family is all in Berkshire so we're ideally looking in the Bristol, Southampton, Reading triangle. We've got some job leads to follow up and are starting to house hunt so it's all very exciting right now!

@Ree723: that means you'll probably be the closest Bee to me! And we also pop back up to Bath/Bristol as we have a lot of friends there.

@illumina: That would be so awesome! Once we finally get there (at some point this year, preferably sooner rather than later), we'll have to plan a meet up!

@illumina: @Ree723: And me, and me!! Bath/Bristol are miles away from me but Bath is a beautiful city for a weekend away so I will book a hotel for a couple of nights and bring LO and DH with me for a lovely weekend!

Hahaha, oh man, you're such a doll. Sadly, I think it's just me and you up our way.
@illumina: @Ree723: I took my mom down to Bath in November and the countryside is jaw-droppingly beautiful down there. I loved it and Im so glad I got to go!

@loveisstrange: Even if it's just me and you, we will have a lovely time!!
Let's set a date then! xx
pomelo / 5469 posts
@Cherrybee: don't think I will be able to make it to this one, ladies. 6+hrs is just a little too far at the moment--especially with S.

@Cherrybee: That's so neat! The first time I have heard do used for venue. Have fun ladies!
