I went to a salon for cut/color this past weekend and had mixed results. I'm fine with the color but the balayage looks rough (in my eyes). I asked my stylist for something subtle/lived-in looking/natural. Just something to add dimension to my naturally flat black/brown hair color. She showed me a balayage that she had done on another client and it looked great. Our natural hair colors are clearly different but I was on board for the overall look.

Towards the end of the hair coloring process, we tested a few sections and the color was looking kind of light. She applied something to my hair (a gloss?) to deepen the color, which I appreciated. But when all was said and done, I was kind of ... confused? Not horrified, but just not feeling it. In my rush to make a train + get home to LO, I didn't sit and look at my hair from every angle. But when I got home and had my husband take some pictures of my hair, I was really unhappy. My hair looked kind of ... stripey. And orange? And not really like the picture that my stylist showed me.

The salon sends out an email survey after visits, so I tried to respond as fairly as possible. While I'm really pleased with my haircut, I clearly should've looked closed at my hair while at the salon and should've said something. The salon has offered to re-color my hair for free, which is great. (Cut + color = not cheap!) But I'm not sure if I want to return to the same salon, especially if it's the same stylist. Not only would I feel super awkward, but I'm not convinced/confident that the second round results would be great.

Has anyone ever returned to a salon/stylist to fix their hair color? Does my hair actually look similar to the picture and I'm just crazy/blind?

Please excuse the frizz-o hair. Of course my umbrella broke on the way to the train and the rain ruined the blowout! Ha.
