Do you save unused portions of onions? I do save them in a bag/tupperware but my mom told me Dr. Oz or Oprah said it isn't good to store onions in the fridge. Has anyone heard this?

I save and reuse within a day or so.
I've also chopped and frozen

I don't know about storing them in the fridge (although if I think I'll use them within a day or two I'll do this) but I often chop and freeze.

I'll put them in the fridge and use them on sandwiches, in omelets, etc. Didn't know I wasn't supposed to.

I try to ignore Dr. Oz and Oprah.
I keep them in a tupperware in the fridge and they're usually fine. As long as i use them within a couple of days, of course!

We always put the onion in the fridge and reuse.

@autumnlove: I have heard this too, because onions apparently attract bacteria or something like that. So I stopped saving them. I use the whole thing

Hmmmm I always store them in a ziplock and keep using. I find they don't go bad for at least a week. Maybe I need to change my onion usage.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with using the bits. Personally, I don't save them. I find that flavor and texture can be a little off if they're not freshly chopped. But I'm fussy with food. Just ask Mr. T!
