The mini-film in UP of Ellie and Carl's relationship absolutely kills me...
The most powerful scene (for me) was when Carl and Ellie thought all the clouds looked like babies. I remember when Bee and I were struggling with miscarriages, it seemed like babies were everywhere.
What a great movie... I really want to re-watch it when we have more time.

@sunny: Ellie looks sooo sad when she gets the news from the doctor, and then she's sitting in the front yard. I may have gotten a little something in my eye around that time.

definitely!! i was on my first date with DH when we went to see UP at the cinema! he conveniently had to go to the bathroom at the beginning, so thankfully he didn't see me bawling my damn eyes out during that scene!

That part gets me every single time- absolutely sobbing when they get to the doctor's office part. Having a hard time getting to that baby is something that doesn't leave you.
To me the mini movie is sad, but also happy too, they had an awesome relationship and a good long life together.

@mrbee: Oh, man. I forgot about the miscarriage and the babies in the clouds. It made me sad when the movie came out but it really touched me when I saw it again. It's even more sad from my point of view. I just looked at the release date. The movie came out in May 2009. That was 6 months before our wedding...

@mrbee: Wow, when I saw the title of this thread I literally was thinking of the exact same scene from UP. I couldn't conceive for YEARS when I watched that and I cried like a broken faucet.

I love that whole movie but that part just absolutely kills me. There are other parts that make me cry as well, but just think of that montage makes me tear up.
Toy Story 3 also made me cry. But I've cried at lots of animated movies. The Lion King, anyone? When Mufasa is killed?

the other day UP was on TV and i watched it(again) and i told DH that DS and i watched 'the saddest kids movie, ever!' and he knew right away i was talking about UP.

I actually LOVE the first part of Up, and find it almost inspiring - isnt that kind of love story ultimately what we all want? Their love for each other always makes me sob! I think even my tough as nails DH gets a little something in his eye during this part lol.

Actually, I find the whole movie inspiring - like, it's never too late to follow your dreams. I love the scene where he's dumping all the furniture out of his house so it can take off. And yes, I may have watched that movie a few or 10 times
