I haven't really started yet but I know lots of mommas, even bf'ing moms that haven't had af return, that use NFP and have been very successful.

I haven't felt up to starting yet so we're sticking with condoms. lol

The mini pill didn't affect my milk supply but I had trouble taking it the same time every day...which gives it high failure rates!

I was interested in NFP for this reason, but then I decided that I really, really didn't want to risk getting pregnant right now. So I went with the IUD, and so far no problems. After we have our next baby I'm hoping DH will agree to a vasectomy!

@skibobrown: Exactly the same. Not sure we want a second, but positive we don't want an "whoopsie!" baby. After we decide for sure DH is getting snipped.

My midwife said the mini pill wouldn't hurt my supply (although I went with an IUD). I opted against it because I don't think I could remember to take it correctly.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: For our next we might use ecological breastfeeding but this time we HAD to use a paci b/c of all of P's initial feeding issues AND she's gone longer than 5 hrs between feedings so that's out the window this time. =/

The pill had no effect on my supply, but going back to work 2 months later briefly did. I set the alarm on my phone so I would remember and had no problems with it.

@highwire: my aunt became infertile from an IUD she was like that small percent that something goes wrong- so I'm not risking it either! I have an issue with all the birth control options too. We just use conforms and have gotten used to it. Sucks yeah but what are ya gonna do...

@Mrs. Pen: We live down in South Texas so lots of Catholic ladies & families we know use it. Most have had lots of success. I think I may be a TAD to lax/lazy for something like that though... just seems like alot of work. Both DH & I are fine with condoms for the time being so it's whatevs. lol

I did nfp but since baby no af so I have no idea how it would work.

I'm also on the mini pill and it has not affected my supply. I have an alarm on my phone to remind me to take it.

What about the Implanon?

I was on depo provera and just recently went off so I can start regulating my period so we can try for #2. But I like the shot, I know there are some side effects, but it was fine for me in the short term.

I have tried just about every form of birth control (pill, mini pill, copper IUD, shot and the patch). I didn't notice a any change in supply with the mini pill, so I will likely do that or have get the Mirena (which is the same hormone and similar dose as the mini pill). Ireally hate using hormonal birth control, but I work nights and teming is just not reliable enough after I work.

I am hoping Dh will come around and get a little snip snip so I don't have to do this forever.

@blackbird: I have been cuious about the Implanon. Do you know anybody that has tried it.

For the people interested in NFP after baby, I know there are some versions that are CM only and don't rely on temps (so, would be a better option for someone with a baby up at night or working nights). From what I picked up on web forums (usually you'll see them discussed on Catholic forums) they are pretty strict and usually you have to take an actual class or work one on one with a leader couple, but they are just as or more effective than sympto-thermal method (like the one in TCOYF). I never wanted to get that involved in my CM, personally, but if you are really dissatisfied with your other options could be worth looking into.

I agree with the original complaint-- I'm not thrilled about any of the options. I have a feeling we'll end up doing some combo of condoms and pull and pray...

I was frustrated too. I know it's old school, but I got fitted for a diaphragm at my pp appt.

@prettylizy: Yeah I don't think it's a good option for everyone, but from reading Catholic forums some people love it. But it's strict down to things like the way you fold the toilet paper when you wipe-- not for me.

@MsLipGloss: My OB actually chuckled when I asked about it and said she wasn't sure if they even had the fitting kit anymore, but the more we talked about it, the more she was totally on board with it. She used one herself for like 20 years so she had good tips for using it. I find it less awkward than condoms....just a barrier to the goal post rather than the whole field, you know?

@mrsmenow: I used Implanon for a couple years. I didn't mind it at all. Easy insertion and you forget it's there. I didn't have periods with it either.

I am probably going the IUD route again but this is my last baby so it's merely because I'm too scared to do the tubal or Essure and I'd prefer not having periods again which I won't deal with while using the IUD.
I loved when I had it in but it was difficult to regulate my cycles when we took it out to TTC. However I'm 25 weeks pregnant now and all is well so I'd recommend an IUD to anyone.
