So I found an amazing deal on some more rumparooz diapers (seriously...7 with snaps for $45!) and I am super stoked. But, I have a sneaky suspicion that they may be stained and in need of some TLC.
What is the best way to disinfect used diapers? I am fine dealing with some leftover staining, but I want to know that they are really really clean before I put them on LO. Is bleach safe to use with TPU?

I would probably just wash them a few times and lay them out in the sun. A few hot washes would be good enough for me!

I have washed my diapers with a touch of bleach with no ill effects before! When I buy used, I usually wash, then wash again with a touch of bleach, then rinse well and sun, then wash again.

They were in better shape than I anticipated, but the elastic is pretty relaxed. Has anyone ever paid someone to replace elastic? I don't think I want to tackle it myself.

I personally boil (we have a sanitize cycle on our washer) with plenty of vinegar in there to strip/clean. There are some awesome online tutorials for just doing it in a pot, too.

@Mrs. Twine: The manufacturer directions specifically say not to ever boil or use the sanitize cycle. Would you do it anyway?

@Mrs. Lion: I'd follow the mf directions just to be safe. If there is any warranty remaining and you don't follow, you void the warranty. Our sanitary cycle uses steam, and it seems a little gentler than our old washer that just used super hot water. Either way, our diapers didn't have a warranty void for sanitary cycle. Maybe you can check with other people who use that brand, too, just to see?

So I was able to switch out the elastic myself and it has been surprisingly easy! Tedious, but totally doable!

@GreenThumb: I wasn't planning on a post because I feel like the audience who would want to read about it would be pretty small, but I found some great tutorials! I was afraid to do it because I didn't want to rip a hole in the liner of the diaper, but I tried it and it wasn't so bad. I was able to hand stitch the hole back together with 5-6 stitches, so I think they will be okay. I am also lazy and didn't find matching thread, so you can see the white stitching on the front of the diaper, but to me it isn't that big a deal 
This youtube video was specific to the type of diapers I was repairing (ps...I don't know what she does to her diapers that her "brand new" ones have worn out elastic...but that's beside the point).

@Mrs. Lion: Thank you! I don't think I'm at the stage where I have to do it yet, but I've looked at my diapers and thought - how in the world? Good for you for diving in and saving the $$ on sending them out!
