We didn't do this for either kid, and sometimes I feel a little bad about it. In my defense though, the names in my family tree are super old school and wouldn't really work in this century (or the last one to be honest). So it wasn't really a realistic option.

Kind of. My mom and grandmas name is Mary, MIL is Another version of Mary. My grandma's friends call her Mae as a nn sometimes. So LO's middle name is Mae after all three but especially my grandma, who turned 90 3 days after C was born.

We totally did (even the old school ones, such as Josephine, Francis and Valentine.). But now you have me super-curious about names that are too old school to be used? We have a couple in our family tree such as Adolf and Scholastica. I don't see how we could use either of those today.

We followed the naming structure for Wagon Sr.'s ancestral line for Wagon Jr.'s middle name (his Korean name). It's a tradition I love! So easy to be able to tell if you're related to someone with the same last name 
LMW's middle/Korean name shares a syllable with his but not the traditional syllable, the other one.

My twins' middle names are their grandmother's maiden names. My MIL's maiden name is also my DH's first name, so that worked out well.

We used the feminine version of my maternal grandfather's name as LO's middle name. We were very close and he passed away when I was 12, so I really wanted to honor him in some way.

My LOs middle name is a variation on my maiden name. So yes, I guess so.
Also, my name and middle name are both family names!

Yes, E's middle name is my MIL's maiden name. And if we have a girl next time her name will either be based on my mom's name (Catherine instead of Katheryn) or D's grandmother's name (Grace).

Almost every woman in my family has Marie as their middle name, including myself and my LO. But that might just be because its super common and easy to put with other italian names - IE Donna Marie, Gina Marie, Natalie Marie, Amanda Marie, Stephanie Marie, Angela Marie.

We chose a name that we love and fit well with his first name. We found out after he was named that it is actually a family name, but that had no impact on our decision since he was already named!

Our older daughter has a family name for a first name and a name we liked for a middle name. Our younger daughter has a name we liked for a first name and a family name for a middle name!

Yes - for both sons. DS1 and DH have the same middle name. DS2 and his grandfather have the same middle name. I told DH if we have a third son, I'd like his middle name to be the masculine form of my middle name.

We did! We used my mother'maiden name for DD's middle and are thinking about using MIL's maiden for DD2's middle!
I'm not a big middle name person (I grew up without one) so I don't mind throwing it in there to make someone happy. (Not that they requested it....but they were/would be very honored/happy that we used it!)

DD1 shares her middle name with FIL. It was his mothers maiden name.

DD's middle name is the same as my middle name, my mother's middle name and my grandmothers middle name. It also happens to be my MIL's first name. Everyone is happy

Sort of. LO's middle name is DH's great grandmother's name. But I suggested it because I like it and I didn't even know it was a family name (although DH loved it for that reason).

Yup! DD's middle name is Miriam, DS#1 is James, and DS#2 is Henry. If we have another baby and it is a girl, the middle name will be Lorraine and if it is a boy Michael. Those are the names of DH and my grandparents!

Char's middle name is Diem-- my mom's Vietnamese nickname, and I like that it is a "western" name so my ILs can pronounce it. Harry's middle names are his grandfathers' first names, which is sort of a tradition-- my husband's middle names are his grandfathers' first names, too.

No for R. We did have her first name start with K after my sister, but that's all. We're using a feminine version of DH's middle name for this LO. It's a family name that he shares with his dad, uncle, and cousins. ETA- We were originally saving it in case we had a boy, but since we're now planning on only having one, we want to use it. Worst case if we have a bit later, they'll have the same middle name but spelled differently. But that's high unlikely.
