Yes. Mae was my great grandmothers name, she lived to be 99 so I knew her as a child. It is also my grandmas middle name and my aunts middle name. It was just perfect.

@mrbee: If it's a boy we will. If it's a girl we are using my last name as her middle name!

We didn't with DS1. But we are going to use either DH's or FIL's middle name for DS2's middle name. Just have to figure out a first name!

Yes with both girls, DD1 has my grandmother's maiden name (family tradition for first born girl) and DD2 has DH's deceased brother's name for a middle name. It's masculine but we really wanted to honor him.

My mum gave me her name as a middle name and I have always hated it and wished so hard they just gave me a nice name instead. So I wanted to bear that in mind with my kids. That said, when it came to it, I really wanted to give DD my dying grandmother's name as a middle, but DH said no way. This one may get a family name, but only because we are struggling to think of a first name for him, never mind a middle.

My daughter's middle name is my maternal grandmother's first and my Paternal grandmother's middle name. New baby will likely have my Husband's Maternal grandmother's first name as a middle name.

We did this, and will probably keep the tradition for LO2. Our daughter's middle name is Jane. It's my MIL's name and my great grandmother's name.
