DH has a vasectomy scheduled for this Friday, and we are getting so much push-back from family/friends.

We're 32, but definitely done having kids. We've both acknowledged we're sure we'll both get baby fever at some point (or more "OMG, our kids are so big! Remember how awesome babies were?"), but also agree that our family is complete based on a lot of different factors (finances, home size, travel, ability/desire to have exactly 2 kids, etc.).

We aren't telling many people, but most of the people we have told are saying they're sad, we're making the wrong choice, and they present us with questions like, "What if you get divorced?" ... "What if your child dies?" ... "What if one of you dies?" (all valid I guess, but we've considered all of these things).

Have any of you gone through this with confidence, and are still happy with your decision? Even my own midwife suggested waiting 10 years for permanent birth control. WTF? It seems odd to me that people think it's not possible to know you're done having kids.
