I asked my OB about this, and ready forget the drugs she mentioned!
I'm a VBAC candidate but am still leaning toward a schedule section.
Does anyone have a successful VBAC induction story?

I am considering a VBAC, but my doctor will not induce. It is pretty common from what I have read that OB's will not induce for a VBAC. She said induction increases the risk (although still remote) of ruptured uterus.

@shortcake: I was told they'd induce but can't and won't use certain drugs, whose names ready escape me.
I do recall her mentioning a foley bulb?

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I have no experience with VBAC (I'll get a repeat section), but I had a cook catheter (pretty much the same as a foley) and it wasn't bad at all.

I was able to have a successful vbac but I didn't get induced. I started having contractions on my own the day after my due date. My labor went really fast. I arrived at the hospital and was 4 cm at 8pm, my water broke at 10:20pm and I was 10 cm and he was born at 10:57 pm.

My doctor told me that the drugs used to induce labor have shown to double or possibly even quadruple the risk of uterine rupture. He said that basically the only scenario where he would not be comfortable supporting me through a VBAC would be if induction becomes necessary. Hoping that won't be an issue since I went into labor naturally on my due date with my last pregnancy.

@wonderstruck: that's my biggest concern. I haven't even done any kind of research yet or talked about this at length.
I have a tentatively schedule section date, but my ob did encourage me to reconsider a VBAC because I'm a candidate. I never went Into to actual labor with Chloe (I had preterm labor that stopped, and a schedule section at 39w for breech baby), so I asked if I could be induced.
She said yes, but we couldn't use most of the induction drugs. She did mention some we could use, but I don't recall their name. The foley bulb sticks out, which she said isn't a drug.

My OB will allow the foley bulb and pitocin but will not allow cervadil/cyotec for VBAC induction. I am hoping to VBAC in June, will report back with how it goes

Maybe it just depends on the obgyn/midwife. I've never heard of a filet bulb, but mine will not use pitocin. Definitely something I'd research! My doctor did show me a lot of studies, but unfortunately I can't remember where they were from! But he did also day that people whose previous sections were due to a breech baby are generally very good candidates for a successful vbac!

Hi! I had a successful VBAC 3 months ago. My OB also wouldn't "induce" because of the drugs involved... BUT he did sweep my membranes and whammo... 24 hours later baby was born!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: my midwife & OB would not induce due to increased risk. But my midwife did strip my membranes pretty aggressively at 38 weeks and I went into labor the next day. She did it at 38 so if it didn't work we still had another chance to strip them at 39 & further on.
