It's 1:40am, and for the 3rd time this week, I'm rocking Toddler X back to sleep after a poopy diaper has woken him up. (Or perhaps he half wakes to poop, & then can't fall back asleep.) He has always been this way-- he can't sleep after he has poop in his diaper, understandably. But this is driving me nuts. Usualy he poops closer to wake up time, but lately it has been 4, 4:30, and tonight, 1:15. I know this sounds crazy, but is there anything I can do to encourage pooping at more opportune times so he doesn't wake himself up?
As a sidenote, we have been ECing, but we've had limited success since he usually poops in his room, alone, while in his crib for bedtime or naptime. Also, I'm afraid that this will continue & it will interfere with his ability to avoid soiling his sheets in his sleep in the future I'd like to address this sooner than later for these reasons, but for now, I'd love to just go a night without fumbling with a poopy diaper in the dark. Thanks for any ideas!
