exactly that - I'm looking at walkers for O (6 months) and reading the reviews on the websites is tricky. any hands on experience?
O has some pretty chunky thighs, I did notice on the Chicco reviews it said not great for bigger babies?

@sorrycharlie: we have the Fisher Price stroller walker and M has just started mastering it. For the time being I put a teddy bear in the seat so it's weighted down a little bit. She's still a bit wobbly on her feet. I like it b/c she can use it later as a doll stroller and not just a walker!

We have the Melissa and Doug alligator one. LO likes to crawl all over it and basically use it all of the ways except the correct one. If I have it to do over again, I would have gotten the radio flyer one My nephew has it and LO loves it.

We have the VTech Sit and Stand walker. It's pretty annoying, but She LOVES it!

@Weagle: We have the same one and LO really loves it. He has toppled over it a few times.

We have the Melissa and Doug alligator walker, and my LO loved it. He is turning 2 next month and still won't let me put it away. I think he has fond memories of walking with it when he was younger. It is cute and useful but has a short lifespan. I bought it on sale for $20.

@sorrycharlie: Do you mean a push walker or a sit in walker? If you mean a sit in walker we have the Chicco Lil Splash Walker, Maddy had pretty chunky thighs when she used it and we had no issues.

@StbHisMrs: yes! lol I felt too guilty to correct anyone...but I did mean that one then I read that it makes the leg muscles develop wrong and got nervous!!

@sorrycharlie: i was going to suggest you do some research when I saw the thread. Walkers like that are really not recommended anymore.

We have the Chicco Dance Walker. LO is about 28ish inches (probably, I'm not sure) and around 20 pounds and fits just fine. We don't leave her in there for too long at a time and once she can use the push behind walker we'll probably switch her to that (I got nervous reading about the leg muscles too after we got one for Christmas).

As noted by Zippylef regarding walkers.
Here's an article on it about the why and safety of using walkers and tips if you decide to move forward in purchasing one.

@sorrycharlie: Don't feel guilty and don't let anyone make you feel guilty! We used this walker with our chubby legged LO at 5-6 months, she started walking at 10 months and has no issues.
I also used a walker with my 11 yo son, no problems either. I think the problem begins when babies are left in their walkers for hours on end. We also used a jumperoo

No judgment but this article was one of many I read when reading up on walkers after a friend smuggled one into Canada.
