Hi everyone! I'm new to this board and new to pregnancy. My wedding is coming up and I will be 12w. I want to tell our guests, but my first ultrasound is not until a few days later.
My NP seems to think that I am in excellent health with "an excellent cervix." However, I have not been able to see the baby yet... Even though the little bugger has been making me quite ill. 
What do you think? Should I spill the beans?

I would squeeze in an earlier ultrasound (private ultrasound) just to be sure.... Hopefully everything is absolutely fine but having to un-tell people you're pregnant is no fun. Congratulations on both events

We announced at 11 weeks both times. Our family knew earlier, but it was Facebook official at 11-12 weeks. If your doctor has no concerns, and you're feeling great I would say go for it! A wedding is a fabulous time to announce, everyone will get to congratulate you!
I didn't have an ultrasound until 19 weeks the first time, and we still announced earlier. By 12 weeks you should at least be able to hear baby's heartbeat, so maybe that will calm your nerves.

@BethanyNBump: Congrats! I hope that everything goes smoothly with your pregnancy! I would encourage you to get an ultrasound or at least confirm the heartbeat before you announce. I lost my second pregnancy to a missed miscarriage that was detected at 12 weeks after a normal checkup with ultrasound that showed a heartbeat at 8 weeks. Only 5% of pregnancies have this occur and I hope that you are not one of them...but my experience is what would make me be cautious in your situation.

Ty guys, I will at least try to get an earlier US. If I can't, my fiancé might just burst if he doesn't tell more people. Everyone at his work knows. I gotta get a muzzle for my man.

In Canada it's fairly common to not even get an ultrasound until 20 weeks anatomy scan, so if people held off saying anything until they had a photo... well, there'd be some pretty obvious "secrets".
I think you're fine to announce at 12w.

If you haven't had an ultrasound or heard the heartbeat by then, I would wait.

I'd be begging for an earlier u/s if we're only talking a matter of days, and if it'd be in the range of ok for a NT scan!

I didn't get an ultrasound until 20 weeks (the only one I had). That's quite common. So, I don't think there is any reason to hold off, if you've heard the heart beat.

Congrats! I wouldn't, though. I heard a heartbeat and miscarried right at 12 weeks. I'd ask for an u/s right before! Surely they can oblige you. I know it's not common, but....I hate being part of that 5%. It's too much of a leap of faith!

I'd want to see the baby first! I had the ultrasound at 11 weeks and got the okay from the doctor and I announced at 12 weeks. Try to get an earlier ultrasound!

Given your timeline, maybe you could take a cute 'reveal' picture at the wedding and send that announcement with your thank you notes?

Have you heard the heartbeat? I announced to everyone, including on FB, at 7 weeks but we saw the baby and heard the heartbeat 1st -

I would wait. I have miscarried twice and both times we saw a heartbeat first...the 2nd one we saw a heartbeat 4 times!!! (I had early and frequent ultrasounds because of the first miscarriage). But unfortunately still miscarried around 11 weeks. Of course, that's not a common scenario.Praying that isn't the case for you. Truly, the odds are that you'll be fine, but I honestly never thought I'd have a miscarriage, especially the first one. It would be really hard to un-tell all of your wedding guests, God forbid

Congratulations!! I would push to get your ultrasound a few days earlier before announcing!

Have you heard the heartbeat yet? If so I would announce for sure.
Here in Canada you usually only get one ultrasound at 20w unless there is a medical reason to have one earlier so mostly everyone announces without having "seen" the baby
