It was sociology at my school.

@mrs. wagon: that's hilarious, because I went to the same school as you and one guy showed up to our group meeting with notes on a paper plate. I was like get out of here with that.

Sociology or business. Both were MAJOR jock majors.

Oh! Or hotel and restaurant management. (but I think that's because you could take a bartending class )

Well.....my MAJOR wasn't the jock major but my "mandatory classes" were definitely jock classes. Like my Biology class. It was Bio for Dummies - all tests were open book and open note and the professor ONLY lectured us on stuff that was on the test. I got my very first A EVER in a science class in that class. I was so proud.

@AmandaB8: OMG. my brother did that major, and his coursework was a joke.. he had to make a pizza recipe for a homework assignment and he barely even did that. I'm not knocking the major at all because I think it's awesome and interesting, but he was such a flake. I was like really? you can't even do your pizza assignment?

Nope! I went to an Engineering school though, and not many people there were athletically gifted...I'm not trying to stereotype, but I'm just stating my experience.

We didn't have any, but we also were a division 2 school with only engineering and science majors.

Sociology/anthropology at my school

I went to a small school, where we are NOT known for athletics. But the joke of the business school was marketing majors.

Communications and exercise science. I was a Comm major, and everybody made fun of it, because obviously it was easy if the jocks were doing it (NOT).

My school had a physical educationI (like PE in HS/Jr high) major and personal training/business so yeah. Thaaaaat was popular for jocks.

I'm not sure about a major, but there was the infamouse Football Physics course. All the players and their "tutors" would sit on the back row of the auditorium lecture hall. During test time the questjons would get passed around. The cheating was blatant

Agricultural journalism, I can't imagine any non-athletes majoring it that.
I was biochem, which was a pretty hardcore major. We had a track athlete (decathalon I think) in my major who was accepted to med school and got the first year paid by his athletic scholarship. That is one of the most impressive things I've ever heard.

@MamaMoose: It is an unfair stereotype and for every 'dumb' athlete out there (ugh, I dated one for a long time), there is another brilliant, hardworking one. Unfortunately, depending on where you go to school, the stereotype can sometimes seem to be more prevalent.

I went to a Big Ten school and sports were a huge part of it! It was not uncommon for the admissions standards to be lowered significantly for star athletes to attend (ie our average ACT score for admission was 28 and I personally knew several athletes who got in with ACT scores in the high teens...and not because 'they're just bad test takers'). Of course if they aren't up to par academically and unable to cope with the rigorous course load, they are going to come across as 'dumb athletes'. Kind of a disservice to everyone really....

Our jock majors were Speech Comm, Kinesiology, and Agricultural Sciences. I was a sociology major and had absolutely no jocks in any of my classes!

Public Administration at my school. It wasn't reserved for jocks though; a number of people who's chosen major didin't pan out, would eventually become PA majors.

@mrsmate: I was just thinking about how the football and basketball players were all in Wharton and gosh, how coincidental was that?
