My mom has worked out of the home my entire life besides a few months when we moved (and even then, she was looking for a job).

DH and I talked before I was pregnant and decided that, as long as it was feasible and we were incredibly financially comfortable, that I would be a SAHM. Because of some job opportunities, I'm a SAHM and actually got to stay at home during my entire pregnancy (DH had a temporary job and getting a job when I was pregnant and might need days off and probably moving soon seemed wrong).

My mom was a WOHM and I remember really hating it when I was little. I wanted her to stay home with me but she had to work. This is why I've always wanted to be a SAHM.

My mom did both depending on where we were at. She stayed home while we were little and then went back to work once we were both in school, with periods of being a SAHM. I will be a WOHM unless circumstances change.

My mom is/was a single mom, so she had to work. I think once we have a kids I will work, not sure if it will be outside the home, but there is a lifestyle I want to be able to provide my family and that requires two incomes.

My mom worked until I was 10, then she went on disability. So, that's why I voted other.

My mom stayed home with me until I was about 1 1/2 and has been a WOHM ever since. I don't remember her being home with me at all, though, since I was so young. SAHMs were really uncommon where I grew up (the only one I knew was my uncle's now ex-wife, who was miserable and a raging alcoholic, so not the best example), so I never felt like I missed out on anything by having a working mom. I will be a WOHM, but live in an area where SAHMs are fairly common so I do wonder if my LO will resent it.

My mom was a SAHM and I was for the first 9 mos. Now, I feel like I have the best of both worlds and SAH 3 days and WOH two days.

She went back to work once my sisters were in school but quit working and went back to being a SAHM when she accidentally got pregnant with me years later. I plan to go to work when my children are all in school too....I do not plan on getting pregnant later like she did though lol.

My mom was a SAHM until she and my dad separated when I was about 23. The experience I had with her growing up as well as how hard it was for her after the divorce is a huge reason I am a WOHM.

My mom was a SAHM & I will be when our LO arrives. We hope to have 2 children & I'd like to stay at hone until they both go to school.

My mom was a SAHM. I was going to be a WOHM, until my mom got sick. Now it looks like I'll be a WAHM. If that doesn't work out, I'll be a SAHM. I'd like to work, but I don't make enough that sending LO to daycare makes any sense.

I guess I would be other since my mom was SAH until I was in jr high, then she went back to school and started working shortly after. I was in college by the time she started working, but my brothers were still in high school. I would kind of count college as a job since she would take classes in the afternoon and dad would make dinner (: I am and plan to be a SAHM until all kids are in school, at which point I will only work if my hours fall in between 8am and 1pm, I want to be home when my kids are home; no exceptions. (:

My mom stayed at home until the youngest was in school and then went back to work so she was half SAHM/half WOHM. I'll be a fully WOHM.

@yoursilverlining: That's cool that your mom encouraged you like that. My mom never did and it's really hard to talk to her about how challenging it is being a working mom.

My mom stayed at home but taught night school language classes via adult Ed for years. Then she decided to be a kindy aide, she just retired.

I've been both SAHM and wohm.
